Historic Strawtown Koteewi Park, Trails, Wildlife, Nature Center, Sledding & More
Strawtown Koteewi Park is a must see for any history buff. The park has become a site of archaeological activity in recent years, with students from Ball State University, IPFW, Indiana University and Indiana State University contributing their time to the collection and curation of artifacts found in the park.

Park Attractions
If history doesn't interest you, this 750-acre park also includes a canoe launch on the White River for boating and fishing, nature trails for hiking or cycling, equestrian trails for riding, and wetlands and prairies for enjoying the park's natural beauty.
Many exciting future developments are planned for the county's largest park including a lake, tubing hill, prehistoric interpretive exhibit, expanded trail system, and a lodge. Check out the already completed Koteewi Archery, a state-of-the-art target and 3D shooting range, along with Koteewi Aerial Trail Adventures, treetop trails and zip lines that provide thrills for everyone at every skill level!
Property History
Researchers have discovered that the major occupancy of this property dates back to 1200-1400 A.D. Artifacts found include arrowheads, pottery and remains of what the occupants may have eaten, including bear and elk. Researchers have also discovered evidence of post holes, storage pits and fire pits that show the location of early villages and huts on the property.
Taylor Center of Natural History
This park offers all ages a chance to learn more about the historical and archaeological significance of Strawtown Koteewi Park by visiting the new Taylor Center of Natural History. The center includes an archaeology lab, classrooms, exhibit area and artifact curation area.
The center is open Monday through Saturday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.

Hard work is finally about to pay off for the Hamilton County Parks Department.
The Koteewi Range Sport and Target Archery Center will celebrate its grand opening this Saturday.

After nearly 45 years of teaching at Noblesville High School, Gary Hipes taught his last class on Wednesday.
Retiring from NHS this year, Hipes began teaching at the high school in the fall of 1970. He interviewed for the job as a senior in college at Taylor University, studying biology and education. He later went to Ball State University for his master’s.

Promise Road Elementary fourth-graders lined the back parking lot of the school on Tuesday afternoon, as teachers and school administrators raced across the lot.

The activity was a dry run for tonight’s 2015 Darlington Bed Race to be run downtown. This will be the third year the Promise Road team has competed in the Bed Race, but the first the team has included students.
