Pinball Show # 12 : Pintastic 2019 : Sturbridge Massachusetts
Recently I attended the Pintastic 2019 pinball show located in Sturbridge MA. Gabe, the organizer of the show does a fantastic job giving the people what they want to have a great time. Things at the show consists of pinball games, clowns, face painters, console gaming, tournaments, late night parties, pinball speakers, and game playing almost all night. The show to me is about hanging out with my friends, meeting and talking with many people in the pinball hobby, and conversing with the vendors and seeing what new products are available.

Brimfield Massachusetts (MA) Real Estate Tour
-- Tour Brimfield, MA neighborhoods, condominium developments, subdivisions, schools, landmarks, recreational areas, and town offices.
Brimfield, Massachusetts is a sleepy little town located 23 miles east of Springfield in Hampden County (and just to the east of Sturbridge) with a historic downtown and a picturesque New England town common. Founded the year before George Washington was born, in 1731, it lies in a scenic open valley surrounded by hills. But it's not the town's scenery or its historical significance that bring most visitors to Brimfield.
It's the phenomenon known as the Brimfield Antiques and Collectibles Show. Three times a year, in May, July and September, to the delight of as many as 130,000 visitors, more than 6,000 dealers set up their wares for six days along a one-mile stretch of Route 20. The largest and oldest outdoor antiques show in the world, the Brimfield Flea Markets is actually a collection of 23 fields run by individual promoters. Within this colorful, circus-like landscape of tents and tarps, serious collectors and interested browsers alike can literally find whatever they're looking. Indeed, everything that is even remotely antique or collectible has its place in Brimfield.
But Brimfield has other attractions. Chief among them is the Brimfield State Forest, a rolling, tree-blanketed property with more than 20 miles of roads and trails for hiking, walking, cross-country skiing and horseback riding. Within the forest, the Dean Pond Recreation Area offers fishing, swimming and picnicking along 100 linear feet of beach. Access to the park is from Dean Pond Road. For other town tours visit . What happened last month in Massachusetts....
And What it means to local Real Estate Prices.
The real estate market in the month of August provided for many shifts in the market place when comparing the local markets year over year.
For much of the year the story has been increasing inventory and decreased sales. August had some major pullbacks that could shift the market dynamic as we look to close out 2019.
- Inventory throughout Massachusetts shifted rather dramatically in both the Condo and Single Family markets.
- The two largest cities in Massachusetts (Boston & Worcester) continue perform on opposite sides of the spectrum.
- Spot checking markets throughout the state, we see some markets actually depreciating.
- Different towns throughout Massachusetts are performing at different levels. Even neighboring towns will have major swings making real estate more hyper local then ever before.
If you would like to learn more about the current market conditions whether buying or selling a home throughout Massachusetts, reply to this email, give us a call at 617-480-2600 or visit us online.
We look forward to being your real estate resource.

My attempt at Coffee Snobbery with a Coffee Pour-Over setup. 14 Oct 2019
12 Oct 2019;
So, I took a stab at brewing this morning. BRCC order is not coming until the 21st. I went to Market Basket and got the MB store brand Colombian beans.... ($6/pound garbage) with the intent to get the method down. I went through all of the bags to find the latest born- on date... 9/26/2019- so not too bad.
I ground pretty coarse and it was passing through the filter pretty fast, and it tasted horrible, almost too weak.
The second attempt I turned the grinder 'finer' to a little more than half. (6 clicks vs. 11 clicks for coarse) And the coffee was much better. Wife says it smells burnt, but it was much more flavorful, even though garbage. It is bitter.
Observation so far- Grinding manually a PITA, was my morning workout, especially finer. Reading reviews of similar grinders, guys were using drills attached to the manual grinder to grind.. Trying that next.
The manual grinder only takes about 37 g beans in the hopper. I used the scale, but didn't pay too much attention to water weight during the pour, tbh... i was monitoring the pool of grinds.
I think I have to go finer by a click or 2 and use the effing DeWalt.
Another PITA is the metal filter... just wrapping up and chucking the paper filter seems like a super idea.putting the paper filter in the mesh filter should be OK I hope.
The Thermometer on the kettle gets stuck and needs a whack, the second brew steam and boiling and the temp was like 130.... then had to let it sit for a while to cool.
Brewing extra water had the added benefit of cooking some old fashioned oats with some NY state honey procured at the flea yesterday.
Sturbridge Roasters has a store in Dudley, MA / 6 minutes from me. I may go there before the morning is over.

14 Oct 2019
Went to Sturbridge Coffee roasters up the road in Dudley, MA and grabbed a pound of their SCR House Blend, Medium roast..
While I was there, I tried a cup of their Ethiopian medium roast (Since I have heard it talked about)
The Ethiopian was very good, but it had a strange, metallic finish- That was strange to me. It took me a cup to figure out what was going on with it.
So, now back to the house with the House SCR fresh beans. Very big difference from the Market Basket store garbage- as expected.
It tastes like a fresh bag of coffee smells when you break a vacuum seal. Quite amazing, and thankfully not let down as I was with the garbage store stuff.
Through trial and error each morning over the weekend, I have settled on a method;
-29-30g whole beans, ground pretty fine (set to 6) for a ground yield of -just over- 29g
--Using the battery operated drill on the manual grinder makes this more pleasant of a process. It still takes a while to grind this much coffee. An electric grinder may be in my near future.
-Pre-heat the filter and carafe with about 100g water, let it sit for a few moments and dump it out.
-Place the +29g grinds in the filter, in the carafe.
-I place the carafe on the scale, zero it and once the (bottled spring) water is up to +200 deg temp, I pour 100g of it over the top of the fresh grounds and wait about 45sec-1 minute. (Bloomin')
-I then pour 200g of water over and gently stir the grounds, they seem to clump in the middle of the bottom of the strainer filter if I don't stir the grounds at this point.
-I pout another 200+g of water totaling about 500-550g water and let it sit for about 2 minutes and it stops dripping.
Pours a bit more than my mug can handle so I pour it in to the second mug.
I appreciate the metal filter, It is pretty easy clean-up, I probably won't be moving to paper as previously thought.
So, sticking with it for now. It is getting easier.
