Let's Visit Harrisville, MI and Harrisville State Park
Harrisville, MI is located between Tawas City and Alpena, MI along US 23. It is one of the smallest cities in Michigan with a nice, small harbor along Lake Huron. There are also two state parks nearby: one is Harrisville State Park which is covered in the second half of the video. The park has a nice trail to walk on, a great campground, and a beach along Lake Huron.
The other state park nearby (not covered in this video) is the Sturgeon Point Light Station. I have filmed a video of this lighthouse a few years back:

The 8th Annual Regatta raised money for the Alcona Historical Society in Alcona County, Michigan. The regatta's proceeds are used to preserve the historic Sturgeon Point Lighthouse on the shores of Lake Huron north of Harrisville, MI.. More than $17,000 has been raised since the regatta began. The race is scheduled for the first Saturday in August, in Sanctuary Bay north of the lighthouse. The 2010 winners were Scott and Jeff Nolan, of Michigan and New York, respectively, in a record time. In second place, Bill and Karen Carlson or Harrisville and Eagle, CO,, third place went to Stan Dobry and Brian Morris of Harrisville. Dobry is also from Warren, Mi. Morris is from Fowlerville, Mi.

Sturgeon Point State Park juts into Lake Huron, and waves off the Point conceal a long and shallow reef which extends for almost a full mile beyond the visible confines of the land. This undeveloped site offers parking for visitors interested in visiting the lighthouse and museum that rests on the property. The Alcona Historical Society is responsible for upkeep on the light that is owned by the US Coast Guard.

The park's expansive day-use beach offers acres of glistening white sugar sand, sprinkled with patches of dune grass and backed by low dunes on the Lake Huron side. Come to find out, Tawas Point apparently also happens to be one of the best locations in the country -- maybe in the world -- to experience the growing extreme sport of kite-boarding. The jewel of the park is Tawas Point Lighthouse, built in 1876. It is the only working model of Victorian-era light stations still in operation on the Great Lakes; and to walk through this historic structure and ascend its winding iron staircase is truly to step back in time.

With the great service in the restaurant, it makes a great stop when visiting the Harrisville area as well as when driving to and from Alpena to the north.
