Inside the Pits at Summit Motorsports Park - Norwalk, Ohio during NHRA Nationals
Summit Motorsports Park, formerly Norwalk Raceway Park and Norwalk Dragway, is a drag racing facility located at 1300 State Route 18 near Norwalk, Ohio. It has been a National Hot Rod Association (NHRA) sanctioned facility since 2007 and annually hosts the Summit Racing Equipment NHRA Nationals (July 4th Weekend), an NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series Event and the Cavalcade of Stars (May), an NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series Regional Event.
Norwalk Dragway opened to the public in 1963 but lay dormant for much of the first ten years of its existence. Goodyear briefly used the track for tire testing up to 1973 when the track was sold to a joint venture between Wayne Sergeant and Bill Bader. Sergeant pulled out of the deal the following year and Bader continued as the sole owner. The track was reopened on April 28, 1974.
In 1981, Norwalk hosted the International Hot Rod Association (IHRA) World Nationals for the first time. It continued to host this event up to the 2006 season and had become the IHRA's flagship drag racing facility by this time.
In 2007, Summit Racing Equipment purchased the naming rights to the facility. The Pontiac Performance NHRA Nationals, held at National Trail Raceway in Hebron, Ohio between 1972-2006, found its new home at Summit Motorsports Park in 2007. In preparation for the facility's NHRA debut, millions of dollars were spent in upgrades and renovations. As well as the national events, the facility holds regular local competition throughout the season.

The 2019 Pontiac Nationals was definitely time well spent. The cars were beautiful and I got to see the first ever Pontiac powered race car break the 250 MPH barrier! I’ll definitely be going back in 2020!

Norwalk, Ohio - Part 1
This was STAR Touring & Riding Chapter 480's first official ride of 2010. We are based out of Mount Vernon, Ohio and on this day we headed north to Norwalk, Ohio. Route was around 175 miles and we had 18 bikes show up to ride. Felt a few drops of rain late in the day but not enough to slow us down. There is no music track to this video (wanted you to hear the bikes). This is Part 1 of 2.

This is some footage & photos I captured at my first time experiencing Night Under Fire (Saturday August 8, 2014). I've never been to anything like it before & I had so much fun! I would defiantly go again! Also one of the best firework shows I've ever seen. From the cars, ice cream, fireworks, & getting to walk on the hot sticky track after (too funny) it is a night I will never forget! ♥ ツ

Funny Car is a type of drag racing vehicle and a specific racing class in organized drag racing. In the United States, the other professional drag racing classes are Top Fuel, Pro Modified, Pro Stock, and Pro Stock Bike. Funny cars are characterized by having tilt-up fiberglass or carbon fiber automotive bodies over a custom fabricated chassis, giving them an appearance vaguely approximating manufacturers' showroom models. They also have the engine placed in front of the driver, as opposed to dragsters, which place it behind the driver.[1]
Funny car bodies typically reflect the models of newly available cars in the time period that the funny car was built. For example, in the 1970s, then current models such as the Chevrolet Vega or Plymouth Barracuda were often represented as funny cars, and the bodies represented the Big Three of General Motors, Ford, and Chrysler.[2] Currently, four manufacturers are represented in National Hot Rod Association (NHRA) Funny Car — Chevrolet with the Camaro,[3] Dodge with the Charger,[4] Ford with the Mustang,[5] and Toyota with the Camry.[6] Worldwide, however, many different body styles are used. These fake body shells are not just cosmetic; they serve an important aerodynamic purpose.[7]
Today, fielding a Funny Car team can cost between US$2.6 and US$3 million.[8] A single carbon fiber body can cost US$70,000.[9]
Nitro Funny Car racing has never been more competitive than since 2006.[10] The dominance of John Force Racing ended in 2006 and between 2007 and 2015 was equalled by DSR, with three TF/FC titles each.[11] Funny Car is dominated by multi-car teams, with only Cruz Pedregon, Jim Dunn, and Tim Wilkerson maintaining the traditional one-car operation
