Dr. Hugh McDermott MP Condemns Armenophobia In Azerbaijan
Member for Prospect, Dr. Hugh McDermott has stood in the New South Wales Parliament's Legislative Assembly to condemn Azerbaijan's celebration of pardoned axe murderer Ramil Safarov and called on the international community to resist the dictatorship's demand to bring the Republic of Artsakh under its control, reported the Armenian National Committee of Australia (ANC-AU).
Azerbaijan accidentally released election results before voting had even started !!
Azerbaijan's big presidential election, held on Wednesday, was anticipated to be neither free nor fair. President Ilham Aliyev, who took over from his father 10 years ago, has stepped up intimidation of activists and journalists. Rights groups are complaining about free speech restrictions and one-sided state media coverage. The BBC's headline for its story on the election reads 'The Pre-Determined President.' So expectations were pretty low.Even still, one expects a certain ritual in these sorts of authoritarian elections, a fealty to at least the appearance of democracy, if not democracy itself. So it was a bit awkward when Azerbaijan's election authorities released vote results -- a full day before voting had even started. The vote counts -- spoiler alert: Aliyev was shown as winning by a landslide -- were pushed out on an official smartphone app run by the Central Election Commission. It showed Aliyev as 'winning' with 72.76 percent of the vote. That's on track with his official vo

FRANCE 24: Khojaly Genocide - Azerbaijan commemorates victims (HD)
The Khojaly Genocide - the tragedy of the 20th century - was a result of Armenian's aggressive and criminal policy. This Genocide, which took place in the 20th century was one of the most serious crimes not only against the people of Azerbaijan, but humanity as a whole. The Khojaly Genocide is comparable to the genocides in Khatin, Hiroshima, Nagasaki and Songmi.
There were 3 thousand people in the town at the time of Armenian millitary forces' attack. 613 people were killed, 1000 peaceful people of different age became invalid during Khojaly Genocide. 106 women, 63 children, 70 old men were killed. 8 families were completely annihilated, 130 children lost one parents, while 25 both of them. 1275 peace residents were taken hostages, the fate of 150 of them is still unknown.
All these were commited by Armeninan militaries with special mercilessness and inconceivable barbarism. 2nd battalion of 366th regiment under the command of Major Oganyan Seyran Mushegovich (defence minister of Armenia at present time), 3rd battalion under the command of Yevgeniy Nabokhin, staff chief of 1st battalion Chitchyan Valeriy and more than 50 officers and ensigns, serving in regiment took part in the attack. (From the investigation materials concerning Khojaly occupation).
A part of town residents, attempted to flee, were killed by Armenians, waiting in the ambulshes. According to the Russian remidial centre Мемориал, 200 corpses had been brought from Khojaly to Agdam for 4 days, tens of humiliation facts has been discovered on them. 181 corpses (130 men and 51 women) were made forensic medical examination in Aghdam. According to the examination 151 persons dead in result of bullet wound, 20 - missile wound, 10 people were killed with blunt instrument. Remidial centre discovered fact of scalping of alive man.
Episodes of Khojaly Genocide terrify people. Antiga, the resident of Khojaly, was burned alive because she did not say these places are part of Great Armenia. Khojaly resident Sariya Talibova told: heads of 4 meskhetis and 3 Azerbaijanis were cut off over armenian grave. Then they extracted eyes of 2 Azerbaijanis.
Armenians outraged upon survors. They scalped, cut people's head and other organs off, extracted eyes of children, choped stomaches of pregnant women. Forbidden bullets of 5,45 calibre and chemical weapons were used in Khojaly during the attack. All these facts prove that Armenia commited genocide against civil people, violating Geneva convention protokhol concerning war rules.
Khojaly Genocide teriified jurnalist and publicists of Russia, Georgia, Great Britain, France, Germany, the USA etc.
International conventions, laws, passed in the world, criticize genocides like Khojaly Genocide and call them inadmissible. Azerbaijan nation has all legal base to bring suit against the Armenian Republic in the International court of the UN, guiding by convention Warning and punishment of genocide crime. The world must know this crime directed not only against Azerbaijan nation, but also whole civilized world, mankind. Persons like Seyran Oganyan, Serj Sarkisyan, as well as Robert Kocharyan, holding high state posts at present, and others must answer before international court.
The crime should not remained without punishment. In February 2011, five members of the US House of Representatives, Steve Cohen (D-TN), Virginia Foxx (R-NC), Eddie Bernice Johnson (D-TX), Sue Myrick (R-NC) and Bill Shuster (R-PA), have issued Congressional statements remembering the victims of Khojaly Genocide and condemning the crime.
On March 3, 2011, the Texas House of Representatives passed a resolution 535 recognizing and commemorating victims of the Khojaly Genocide.
On December 21, 2011, the Mexican Senate recognized Khojaly as genocide.
On February 1, 2012, the Pakistan Senate's Foreign Affairs Committee adopted resolution on recognition of Khojaly Genocide.
Then Colombia recognized Khojaly as a genocide against Azerbaijan people by armenians.
On February 21, 2012, the Texas House of Representatives passed a resolution recognizing and commemorating victims of the Khojaly Genocide for a second time.
International organizations, parlaments of the world states must give political-legal appraisal of Khojaly Genocide - millitary crime, commited by the Armenian Republic in the Azerbaijan territories.

Closer Look To Politics in Azerbaijan
The structural formation of Azerbaijan's political system was completed by the adoption of the new Constitution on 12 November 1995. According to the Article 23 of Constitution, the state symbols of the Azerbaijan Republic are the flag, the coat of arms and the national anthem. The state power in Azerbaijan is limited only by law for internal issues, but for international affairs is additionally limited by the provisions of international agreements.
The government of Azerbaijan is based on the separation of powers among the legislative, executive and judicial branches. The legislative power is held by the unicameral National Assembly and the Supreme National Assembly in the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic. Parliamentary elections are held every five years, on the first Sunday of November. The Yeni Azerbaijan Party, and independents loyal to the ruling government, currently hold almost all of the Parliament's 125 seats. During the 2010 Parliamentary election, the opposition parties, Musavat and Azerbaijani Popular Front Party, failed to win a single seat. European observers found numerous irregularities in the run-up to the election and on election day.
The executive power is held by the President, who is elected for a 5-year term by direct elections. The president is authorized to form the Cabinet, an inferior executive body, subordinated to him. The Cabinet of Azerbaijan consists primarily of the Prime Minister, his Deputies and Ministers. The president does not have the right to dissolve the National Assembly, but he has the right to veto its decisions. To override the presidential veto, the parliament must have a majority of 95 votes. The judicial power is vested in the Constitutional Court, Supreme Court and the Economic Court. The President nominates the judges in these courts.
The Security Council is the deliberative body under the president, and he organizes it according to the Constitution. It was established on 10 April 1997. The administrative department is not a part of the president's office but manages the financial, technical and pecuniary activities of both the president and his office.
Although Azerbaijan has held several elections since regaining its independence and it has many of the formal institutions of democracy, it remains classified as not free (on border with partly free) by Freedom House.
Azerbaijan has been harshly criticized for bribing foreign officials and diplomats for promoting its causes abroad and legitimizing its elections at home, a practice which has been termed as 'caviar diplomacy'.

Another U.S. Whistleblower Jailed? Investor Jailed After Exposing Corrupt Azerbaijani Oil Deal 1/3
- In a Democracy Now exclusive, we look at the case of multi-millionaire American businessman and philanthropist Rick Bourke, who blew the whistle on a fraudulent scheme by international criminals to gain control of the oil riches of the former Soviet Republic of Azerbaijan -- only to end up as the only person sent to jail by federal prosecutors in the massive conspiracy. Since May, Bourke has been held in a federal prison, serving a term of one year and one day for violating the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act for alleged knowledge of the bribery that allegedly took place in 1998.

Other investors in the Azerbaijan scheme included former Democratic Senate Majority leader George Mitchell, and major institutions including Columbia University and AIG, but no one else was jailed in the United States. High-ranking former U.S. and British officials from the CIA and MI6 have raised serious concerns about the conviction of Bourke in part because the key witnesses during his trial were allegedly intelligence assets working for the U.S. government. They are not the only ones who question Bourke's guilt. Even the judge in his case has admitted having doubts. At the time of Bourke's sentencing, Shira Scheindlin of the Federal District Court said, After 10 years of supervising this case, it is still not entirely clear to me whether Mr. Bourke was a victim, or a crook, or a little bit of both. We speak to Bourke's lawyer, the law professor and renowned attorney Michael Tigar, as well as former Washington Post reporter Scott Armstrong. Why is it that they would go after the guy that blew the whistle on the thievery and bribery, Rick Bourke? Tigar asks. Why is it that the Czech citizen and the guy, the ex-patriot, and the German-Swiss lawyer all are walking free; the American citizen, philanthropist, and so on, is sitting in a minimum security jail? Well, investment in the Azerbaijan hydrocarbon industry is now safely in the hands of major petroleum companies. Is that a reason?

Mark Wiens - A Quick Overview of Life and How I Started Traveling
Hey, it's Mark Wiens from Migrationology.com. If you're interested in more, I will be sending you current travel and food updates, just sign up here:
While most of the time you probably see me eating food, I've been receiving a lot of questions lately asking me who exactly I am, how I started traveling, why I love eating so much, and how I earn a living. So in this video I'm going to quickly explain how and where I grew up.
I was born in Phoenix, Arizona, in the USA in 1986. My mother is from Hawaii, and she's Chinese, so I'm half Chinese. Visiting Hawaii, where food is a huge part of the culture, is where I first became so obsessed with all things food. My grandfather was a Chinese chef, so food has been a big part of my family.
My parents are Christian missionaries, so when I was 5 years old, we moved to France for a year. I attended my first year of school in France. We then moved to DR Congo, which was then known as Zaire. We lived in the middle of the jungle and as a kid I would run around exploring and eating interesting and rather bizarre jungle creatures. Due to war in Zaire, we moved to Nairobi, Kenya, where I attended a Christian international school for 8 years until graduating from high school. After high school I went back to Arizona and attended Arizona State University for 4 years, graduating with a degree in global studies.
After graduating, I didn't want to just get a job, so I started traveling again. I traveled in South America and then went to Asia where I finally got a job teaching English for a year. During that year though, I decided not to ever teach again but to do everything I could to make it as a freelancer on the internet and be able to have freedom to travel (and eat). It was in Thailand that I met my girlfriend, who is now my wife, so I am married!
This brings us up to now. For a living I do a combination of selling my own ebooks, freelance writing, making videos, and all sorts of other random projects like SEO and social media marketing.
Thank you very much for watching this life sketch video and if you have any questions for me, be sure to let me know in the comments below. You can also ask me on Facebook here:

Azerbaijan: freedom of expression on trial, 2014
In a report released in May 2014, the International Bar Association's Human Rights Institute (IBAHRI) urged the Azerbaijani Government to uphold fair trial rights in freedom of expression cases. Specifically, the IBAHRI calls on the government to take active steps to establish effective mechanisms, consistent with international standards, to protect journalists.
This short film gives a summary of the report, its findings and recommendations, with contributions from the delegates who visited Azerbaijan on the fact-finding mission in December 2013.

Oil & Corruption in Azerbaijan
A US investigation into bribery allegations surrounding efforts five years ago to privatize Azeri state oil company Socar has implicated President Haidar Aliev and his son, Ilham Aliev, proving a source of embarrassment as the Aliev clan fights to remain in power in presidential elections scheduled for next month.
The ruling Yeni (New) Azerbaijan Party has proposed lifting the two-term presidential limit to allow Aliyev to run for election after his second term expires in 2013. Opposition leaders called on voters to stay home but early indications suggest a high turnout and the amendment is likely to win approval after Aliyev secured 89 percent in the albeit flawed presidential election in October 2008.
The authorities have been accused of bussing voters to polling stations, and unofficial observers claimed that some citizens voted multiple times.
