Pink 31601 at Sutton Park
DBSO-led test train 5Z31 from Derby runs through Sutton Park at 1245 today, being propelled by 31601 in rear.
By chance I caught the combo on the return working this afternoon, climbing the incline from Rushall to Aldridge, and with the pink thing still at the back end.

Cab Ride - Sutton Park Line
Cab ride from Walsall to Water Orton via Sutton Park (approx 14 miles).
This was taken prior to 2008 since when a large amount of lineside trees were removed. The video also shows some of the older Saltley signals and the crossover points at Sutton Park old station which were all removed in April 2012.
The line was built by the Midland Railway and opened in July 1879, initially being known as the Walsall & Water Orton Railway. Passenger services lasted until January 1965 when withdrawn, the five stations between Walsall and Water Orton then being closed. Since that date the line has continued as a freight-only railway, with only the occasional passenger charter or diversion passing through.

Historic cities such as York and spectacular ruins such a Rievaulx Abbey are within easy reach.
Situated close to Sutton Bank on the A170, the top of the bank affords panoramic views of the plain of York Stretching between the Pennines and the Hambleton Hills. There is a large car Park and a comprehensive visitor information centre.
The Historic market town of Thirsk lies 3.5 miles away from the resort. In the town there is a picturesque country racecourse with excellent facilities. Thirsk is also well known as the home of James Herriot (Alf Wight, OBE) the world’s most famous vet.

Driving in England. The view from my car cam, on the road down Sutton bank in the county of North Yorkshire, England. Driving in the UK. Sutton Bank is a steep hill on the A170 between Thirsk and Helmsley in North Yorkshire England. It has a gradient of 1 in 4 (25%) with 2 hairpin bends.Treacherously steep the Sutton Bank road with it,s 1 in 4 gradient on the hill presents a problem for many types of vehicles and their loads - a situation which is aggravated by a hairpin bend. Police figures show that - on average - there is an incident every other day involving obstructions by goods vehicles on Sutton Bank. Due to the limited width of the road and the length of the steep gradient most breakdowns require the road to be closed until the obstruction is removed, causing major delays to traffic. Often closed during bad weather in the winter it is to avoided if possible.

An afternoon at Sutton Park - Featuring a Class 37, 60 and 68
A number of interesting workings were due to pass through my local photographing location today. So i spent a couple of hours at Streetly gate in Sutton Park. The footage is in order and is as follows:
1. DRS 37069 + 37609 - 6Z40 Devonport-Crewe.
2. DBS 60011 - Wolverhampton-Immingham.
3. DRS 68004 Rapid- Mountsorrel-Bescot.
I also saw 37608 + 37606 hauling a test train but did not have enough time to switch the record button on my camera so i managed a still image only of this and is featured at the begining of the video. Hope you enjoy the video and thanks for watching.
