Swim with Dolphins, Makaha Oahu Hawaii
We found a friendly pod of spinner dolphins in the West Coast of Oahu near Makaha Beach
Swimming with Dolphins and Turtles in Oahu (Hawaii)
If you want to to swim with dolphins and turtles in Oahu the west coast is one of the best places in the world to do so.. Set on the leeward side of the island the water remains transparent most of the year, and it is here that dolphins choose to live most of the year and whales give birth.
In this tour I joined Wild Side Specialty Adventures ( on a dolphin and turtle swim off the beautiful coast of Hawaii. Leaving early in the morning from Waianae on the west coast of Oahu we headed out into the ocean and about 45 minutes later we spotted the first pod which followed us for a while.
After swimming with the dolphins the tour continued towards a rock known to be a place where turtles come to be cleaned by other fish. A great experience!

Oahu Hawaii Highlights of the best things to do! Swim with dolphins, stairway to heaven, & sharks!
This is just a small highlights trailer of the best things to do on the Island of Oahu Hawaii. We had an absolute blast on the island interacting with the wildlife, the locals, food, activities and just about everything was superb.

Some interesting facts:
Honolulu is the second most expensive city in the United States. Anchorage, Alaska is the most expensive. Although we didn't break the bank, you can have fun and enjoy all the local food within a reasonable budget.
Waikiki attracts 72,000 visitors each day. That is 44 percent of all visitors on all of the islands. How is that for an Oahu fun fact. Although its busy most of the time, during the weekdays and early in the morning you will find plenty of areas along the beach for yourself.
Definitely check out the North shore, if there is such a thing as a perfect wave then the north shore is where you will find it. Less busy then Waikiki and to be honest way more fun because the water doesn't smell like sun lotion and the waves are slightly bigger, Especially at Sandy beach but seriously be careful if you go to Sandy its only for experienced surfers.
Plan a Dolphin excursion while your there, our group was really educated and very friendly. They understand the environment and how to find dolphins, sea turtles, lots of different fish and more for you to free dive and swim with in the wild. We got really lucky and were able to also swim with 2 baby sharks! it was pretty epic lol
The Haʻikū Stairs, also known as the Stairway to Heaven or Haʻikū Ladder, is a steep hiking trail on the island of Oʻahu, Hawaii. The total 3,922 steps span along Oahu's Ko'olau mountain range. This is an illegal hike, its has been closed down so access isn't really easy, talk to locals before attempting something like this because it really is very dangerous. Although I gotta be honest it was one of the most epic hikes and definitely a highlight of the Island. Took us just over 3 hours to complete and its quite unforgettable.

Visiting Oahu in a Day - Oahu Day Tour
Get my free travel guide now! (CLICK LINK) Going Solo: a Complete Guide to Help You Plan Your Trip of a Lifetime.
Hi Federico. Your guide on travelling solo is awesome!! I can't stop reading it. Thanks x!-Agness, reader.
In this episode I join a circle island tour of Oahu, giving me the opportunity to see some of the best of the island in just one day. While the island is not very big there are indeed many things to see and do in Oahu, and an Oahu day tour makes this process much easier. Sure, you might not spend as much time as you'd like in each of the spots you visit, but if you do have a few days (which you probably do) you can always come back!
There is one thing that I really enjoyed about this day tour versus others I have been in and that is that besides learning what there is to do in Hawaii's main island the driver is enthusiastic, fun and knowledgeable. Many of the things he will explain are difficult to learn if you're on your own, so paying attention does make the trip more fun.
My favourite spots of all those visited were Hanauma Bay and the Byodo temple. Just a couple of days before I had snorkelled in Hanauma Bay (check my other video about my experience here and visit my blog for more information on these and other places visited in thw tour) and it's something you must not miss as the bay is so close to Waikiki beach.
The places to visit in Oahu that this tour covers are a good selection, considering how much is being covered, but I highly recommend you do go again on your own. For example, the tour does not stop in Turtle Bay, probably the easiest place in Oahu where to conveniently spot and swim with turtles without having to pay for a tour (check my other video of this place There is a nice hotel and a few surf breaks nearby if you want to ride some waves while here.
I was less impressed with the Dole pineapple plantation; this is obviously a marketing stop to get tourists to spend some money. Sure, you will learn a few things about pineapples but like me you probably did not come to Hawaii for this. On the other hand, by the time you get here you will have already endured about 10 hours or more of the Oahu day tour, hence it's an opportunity to stretch your legs.
Finally, make sure you also read this post from my budget travel blog with 5 tips that I guarantee will save you money when there, from where to find the cheapest surfboards for rent to the cheapest car rental agency in the island

Are Hawaii tourists getting too close to dolphins?
Swimming with dolphins is a popular activity for tourists in Hawaii, but a proposed federal rule could lead to a dramatic change. The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration wants to ban boats and swimmers from getting too close to Hawaiian spinner dolphins. Carter Evans reports from Oahu.
