Places to see in ( Swindon - UK ) Lydiard Park
Lydiard Park is a 260-acre country park at Lydiard Tregoze, which was its formal name, about 4 mi west of central Swindon, Wiltshire, England, near Junction 16 of the M4.
Lydiard House is a manor house located in Lydiard Park at Lydiard Tregoze, Swindon, Wiltshire. The house and surrounding land was originally owned by the Viscount Bolingbroke. The family owned the house for several centuries until the cost of caring for the house proved too high, and they were forced to sell. The house is now owned by Swindon Borough Council who remodelled it and opened it up as a museum for the public. The surrounding garden Lydiard Park is also owned by the council and has been opened as a public park. The architecture of the buildings is mainly Palladian and contains a variety of Georgian elements.
Large parts of the Lydiard Park had been sold off in the 1920s and 1930s. Swindon Corporation bought the house and Lydiard Park in 1943 and after restoration opened Lydiard Park to the public in 1955. Lydiard Park remains open all year round.

Swindon is a large town, formerly in Wiltshire, South West England, midway between Bristol, 35 miles to the west and Reading, 35 miles to the east. London is 78 miles to the east, and Cardiff is 78 miles to the west.
Swindon became an Expanded Town under the Town Development Act 1952 and this led to a major increase in its population. Swindon railway station is on the line from London Paddington to Bristol. Swindon Borough Council is a unitary authority, independent of Wiltshire Council since 1997. Residents of Swindon are known as Swindonians. Swindon is home to the Bodleian Library's book depository, which contains 153 miles (246 km) of bookshelves and also has the English Heritage National Monument Record Centre and the headquarters of the The National Trust, on the site of the former Great Western Railway works. The town and wider borough also has the headquarters of the Nationwide Building Society and a Honda car manufacturing plant.
Swindon railway station opened in 1842 as Swindon Junction, and until 1895 every train stopped for at least 10 minutes to change locomotives. As a result, the station hosted the first recorded railway refreshment rooms. Swindon bus operators are Thamesdown and Stagecoach. Swindon is on the historical GWR and on canals. Swindon also has two junctions (15 and 16) on the M4 motorway.

Honda Announces Programme in Swindon Plant
Honda's biggest UK investment in over 10 years
2012 production doubles on last year
New models and engine line
Honda on 5th September marked the launch of the new CR-V model as part of a £267 million investment programme into new models and engines at its Swindon, UK plant. This is the single biggest investment into Honda's UK manufacturing base in over a decade.
With the investment supporting the introduction of:
• New Civic (Dec 2011)
• New CR-V (Sept 2012)
• New 1.6 litre diesel engine for Honda Civic (Dec 2012)
500 new staff -or Associates as they are known- have been recruited and trained this year to build these new products, taking the total workforce to 3,500.
By the end of the year, production at the Swindon plant is forecast to have doubled on last year's figure, up to 183,000 units. Honda aims to increase that figure to 250,000 units per year, within 3 years .
This announcement is also good news for the UK balance of trade with 60 per cent of the production going for export. Honda's Swindon plant produces cars and engines for over 60 countries around the world, including Europe, Middle East, Africa and Australia.
Business Secretary, Vince Cable, who will be visiting the Honda site today, has commented, 'this multi-million pound investment by Honda in its twentieth year of car production in the UK is great news for Swindon and the automotive sector. Having created a host of new jobs, the investment supports Government's ambition to encourage new investment and exports as a route to renewed growth and a more balanced economy.'
Dave Hodgetts, Managing Director of Honda UK added, 'this investment programme underpins Honda's commitment to manufacturing in Britain and to our UK workforce. It also reaffirms the Swindon plant's position as the cornerstone of Honda's European operations, as it has been for over 20 years'.

Top 10 Worst Places to Live in England
Get more Tips here! destinationtips.com
According to ilivehere.co.uk, which has been compiling this list for more than a decade, with the votes from thousands of readers, these are the WORST places to live in England.
10: Blackpool
Once famed for its golden mile, Blackpool now conjures up images of drunken stags and hens, falling over in the street and spewing on themselves, before retiring to a grotty seaside B&B.
9: Oldham
The most deprived town in England according to the ONS, where the streets have been described as “graffiti covered, fly-tipped shells of what they once were”.
8: Sunderland
has the highest rate of teen pregnancies in Europe.
sexual offences, violent crime and theft are all on the up and are higher than the national average. (I’ve seen policemen on pedal bikes chasing chavs in stolen cars. You might not believe it but I really have seen it!)
7: Gravesend
One voter comments: I have lived in Gravesend all my life. I have visited many other crap towns across Kent like Lewisham, Dartford, Chatham and so on and not one so far, has even came near to being as chav infested as Gravesend.
6. BRADFORD
A Commenter says: Bradford is literally hell on earth. The city centre resembles a squalid cess pit, full of monstrous partially demolished 60’s concrete office blocks, Pound shops, amusement arcades, prostitutes, heroin addicts, Eastern European car-jackers, Asian drug dealers, pre-pubescent mums and mad alcoholic tramps having arguments with themselves.
Being the sixth largest city in the country, in terms of population, it now boasts another famous serial killer...
5: ROCHDALE
One in seven people in Rochdale had no qualifications at all. Weekly earnings were £413 on average last year, compared to £676 in London.
4. SCUNTHORPE
A town once voted the least romantic place in the country.
Apparently Maccy Ds is a chav’s staple diet. Well the small town of Scunthorpe has 3.
3. LUTON
One commenter points out; on Christmas day the local McDonalds gets busier every year”
Black, White, Asian it doesn’t matter, everyone looks like they’re trying to escape or have given up hope on life itself.
2. KINGSTON UPON HULL
based on official government statistics, Hull is the worst place to live in England.
1. DOVER
Apparentñy Dover only beat Hull by 16 votes.
One reader comments;
Let us for a moment imagine that the British Isles are the silhouette of an old man. Scotland is his cap, Cornwall his toes, Anglia his curved spine, making Dover his herpes infested s**t-hole.
Which do you think is the Worst Place to Live in England?
