Sysenvatnet is a lake,10.24-square-kilometre (3.95 sq mi) lake lies at the north end of the Sysendalen valley, about 8 kilometres (5.0 mi) east of the famous Vøringfossen waterfall.
Sysen Dam's reservoir which the lake is dammed on the south end by a large stone embankment, holds about 127 billion cubic feet of water being the main reservoir for Sima Power Station. The Hardanderjokul glacier forms a backdrop to the reservoir.
The dam can be easily seen from the Norwegian National Road 7, which runs near the southern shore of the lake.

The other major population centre in the municipality is the village of Øvre Eidfjord. Eidfjord is situated at the end of the Eidfjorden, an inner branch of the large Hardangerfjorden.

After a successful visit to Vøringsfossen ( me and my father calculate our next move. Eidfjord, waterfall capital of Norway (as I have dubbed it), can offer many impressive waterfalls, and as we only have one more day left here, we must make the right choice. The waterfalls we chose are Skytjefossen and Vedalsfossen. And one more, but that is a secret for another time.. Hope you enjoy this episode!

Vøringfossen waterfall - near Eidfjord, Norway - May 9, 2013
Excerpt from Wikipedia: Vøringfossen is the 83rd highest waterfall in Norway on the basis of total fall. It lies at the top of Måbødalen in the municipality of Eidfjord, in Hordaland, not far from Highway 7, which connects Oslo with Bergen. It has a total drop of 182 meters, (its largest drop is 163 meters). It is perhaps the most famous waterfall in Norway.
