Arkhip Ivanovich Kuindzhi (or Kuinji; Russian: Архи́п Ива́нович Куи́нджи 1842-1910 was a Russian landscape painter of Greek descent.
Arkhip Kuindzhi was born in January 1842 (1841?) in Mariupol (nowadays Ukraine) but spent his youth in the city of Taganrog. His Christian name is a Russian rendering of the Greek, Ἄρχιππος, (Archippos, from ἄρχος (archos) master and ἱππος (hippos) horse: master of horses; cf. Colossians 4:17; ) and his surname came from his grandfather's vocational nickname meaning 'goldsmith' in Tatar (cf. Turkish, kuyumcu). He grew up in a poor family; his father was a Pontic Greek shoemaker, Ivan Khristoforovich Kuindzhi (sometimes spelt Emendzhi). Arkhip was six years old when he lost his parents, so he was forced to make a living working at a church building site, grazing domestic animals, and working at the corn merchant's shop. He received the rudiments of an education from a Greek friend of the family who was a teacher and then went to the local school.
In 1855, at age 13–14, Kuindzhi visited Feodosia to study art under Ivan Aivazovsky, however, he was engaged merely with mixing paints and instead studied with Adolf Fessler, Aivazovsky's student. A 1903 encyclopedic article stated: Although Kuindzhi cannot be called a student of Aivazovsky, the latter had without doubt some influence on him in the first period of his activity; from whom he borrowed much in the manner of painting. English art historian John E. Bowlt wrote that the elemental sense of light and form associated with Aivazovskys sunsets, storms, and surging oceans permanently influenced the young Kuindzhi.
During the five years from 1860 to 1865, Arkhip Kuindzhi worked as a retoucher in the photography studio of Simeon Isakovich in Taganrog. He tried to open his own photography studio, but without success. After that Kuindzhi left Taganrog for Saint Petersburg.
He studied painting mainly independently and at the St. Petersburg Academy of Arts (from 1868; a full member since 1893). He was co-partner of traveling art exhibitions (Peredvizhniki), a group of Russian realist artists who in protest to academic restrictions formed an artists' cooperative which evolved into the Society for Traveling Art Exhibitions (Peredvizhniki) in 1870.
In 1872 the artist left the academy and worked as a freelancer. The painting On the Valaam Island was the first artwork which Pavel Tretyakov acquired for his art gallery. In 1873 Kuindzhi exhibited his painting The Snow which received the bronze medal at the International Art Exhibition in London in 1874. In the middle of the 1870s he created a number of paintings in which the landscape motif was designed for concrete social associations in the spirit of Peredvizhniki (Forgotten village, 1874; Chumatski path, 1875; both – in the Tretyakov Gallery).
In his mature period Kuindzhy aspired to capture the most expressive illuminative aspect of the natural condition. He applied composite receptions (high horizon, etc.), creating panoramic views. Using light effects and intense colors shown in main tones, he depicted the illusion of illumination (Evening in Ukraine, 1876; Birch Grove, 1879; After a thunderstorm, 1879; all three are in the Tretyakov Gallery; Night on the Dnepr, 1880 in the Russian Museum, St.Petersburg). His later works are remarkable for their decorative effects of color building.
Kuindzhi lectured at the St. Petersburg Academy of Arts (Professor since 1892; professor-head of landscape workshop since 1894; but was fired in 1897 for support of students' protests). Among his students were artists such as Arkady Rylov, Nicholas Roerich, Konstantin Bogaevsky, and others. Kuindzhi initiated creation of the Society of Artists (1909; later – the Society was named after A.I. Kuindzhi).

Thanks to Arhip Kuindzhi (Архип Куїнджі in Ukrainian), a famous painter,Greek who was born on Tatars' street in Ukrainian town Mariupol, now Donetsk region (then it was Russian Empire).Mariupol was known from the beginning of the 16th century as the Cossack fortress Kalmius, but only became a real city after the migration of the Crimean Greeks to Priazovye from 1778 - 1780.Then he moved to Taganrog (now Russia), which then was the centre of Ukrainian district (there lived descendants of Zaporizhian cossaks,this territory was a part of Zaporizhzhia from 1711 to 1746 and a part of Ukraine from 1920 t0 1924) and there spent his youth.Incidentally Taganrog was the earliest Greek settlement in the Northern-Western Black Sea Region, and was mentioned by the Greek historian Herodotus as Emporion Kremnoi.

BURAK DERAN:
A member of a musician family. Burak Deran was born in1972, in Istanbul as an only child of Erol and Sevim Deran. He was introduced to classical Turkish music as a child. He learnt his craft not only within the bosom of his own family but also at the Turkish Music State Conservatory of Istanbul Technical University ( ITU TMDK ) where he started his violoncello lessons and graduated in 1996. He played violoncello in classical music concerts with the school orchestra. Burak met the electric guitar in his late years at the conservatory and he decided to play electric guitar. He has been playing in various rock and metal bands since 1989 as a guitarist.
Apart from being a performer and giving concerts, Burak Deran composes and arranges many pieces for guitar and songs.
VICTOR BREGEDA:
Victor Bregeda (born 1 July 1963) is a Russian painter. He was born in the Russian city of Taganrog into a family of painters. He was attracted by the Dutch school of painting. The artists who most inspired him were Leonardo da Vinci, Hieronymus Bosch, Pieter Brueghel the Elder, Max Ernst, Nicholas Roerich, and he states, I also like the French school of the 18th and 19th centuries... and in addition, the works of Andrew Wyeth. My artistic abilities are in my blood, thanks to my forefathers, and I grew up in a strong creative environment.
Bregeda's key directions are working with en plein air landscapes, still lifes and portraits, done in a metarealistic style with a strong influence of subconscious philosophy. The artist uses a mélange of techniques, materials and styles and tries to invent new ones.
