Attending Taiwan Mandarin Institute [ Documentary ]
In October 2018, I wanted to focus on working on bigger video projects. So I contacted a dozen Mandarin language schools and made a pitch of creating a 2wk documentary film of attending their school. I received a response from Taiwan Mandarin Institute, who was pumped about the project and invited me to do so.
This is the journey.

Learning Mandarin in 6 Months // An Interview with Cameron Hee on Taiwan, Hong Kong and Thinking Big
Cameron Hee has had an incredible study and work adventure.
Starting in Taiwan, his experience spans studying at uni, working in Hong Kong, travelling and interning and more.
It's amazing.
Perhaps the most impressive is his story of how he learned Mandarin in just 6 months.
It's perhaps one of the clearest indicators of the dedication, hard work and intelligence he has displayed in obtaining (and making the most out of!) Australia's most prestigious scholarship - the New Colombo Plan.
In this long-form interview with Rob Malicki, Cameron gets deep into the details of what it's like to study at National Taiwan University, to work in Hong Kong, and to travel across the region.
Cameron's advice for young Australians at university or in high school is awesome: don't be afraid to push your limits. Life is short.

Welcome to A Life That Travels, a channel dedicated to providing independent, unbiased advice and stories from around the world.
Why does A Life That Travels exist?
Because SOCIETY shouldn't set the LIMITS on WHO YOU CAN BE.
But it tries to.
Making decisions about what to do with your life is hard and there's way too much pressure on people to work it all out and to find your passion... like you're some kind of failure if you don't.
So here's the truth.
You've got plenty of time and working it out is hard.
You can study (uni or technical/vocation ed).
You can go travelling.
You can get a job and dive straight into your career.
And you know what?
ALL of these are PERFECTLY acceptable options.
And that's where A Life That Travels comes in.
* Interviews with REAL PEOPLE who've done INTERESTING things with their lives, through study, work and travel, so that maybe you can find your own ideas in their stories
* Travel stories, destinations and advice... so if you want to see the world you'll see it's not so scary stepping out of your comfort zone.
* Unbiased reviews of universities and other study options so you can cut through the noise and make clearer decisions.

2019 Global Seminar: Learning Chinese in A Living Classroom in Taiwan (Student Testimony) 繁體
An overseas language course involves learning not only the language but also the culture, both spoken and unspoken, of the people who speak that language daily and the ways they live and think.
CHIN234 is a six-week intensive Chinese language course offered by the University of British Columbia (UBC) in Summer 2019, which is designed to help students develop and apply their Chinese language skills while being immersed in the unique environment of Taiwan and interacting with local people.
Come listen to what our students have to say for their experience!
