the script of this video:
the script of this video: My guide lines for the ultimate bike route in Berlin are: 1) it must be bike friendly with many bike trail as possible. 2) I want to travel inside the city and to experience everything it has to offer including the parks. 3) I want to see east and west Berlin, and the wall in between. 4) I want to experience the modern city and the historical one without going to the touristy places. 5) It must have interesting and relaxing breaks along the way. I constructed a bike rout on google maps, which is free to download on the blog post, link in the description box below. - for this crazy bike travel I will my new bike, it has only one gear but it’s very light wait and fast. The Charlottenburg palace is the largest palace in Berlin, it was built during the late 17th century. And when biking in its gardens we can find a belvedere, a mausoleum, a theatre and a pavilion. Next we bike into the Charlottenburg neighborhood, we will take left at Bismarckstrasse, passing through the Ernst Reuter platz we continue straight ahead until we reach the great tiergarten, the central park of berlin. Here you can feel free to gain some serious speed while you explore one of the most beautiful in all of Germany. Crossing tiergarten to the other side we reach the Brandenburg Gate, we cross it safely to the other side and start riding in east Berlin until we reach the Berlin wall itself. Next in our journey we are going to cycle along Prenzlauer berg. One of the most beloved neighborhoods in east Berlin, especially among young families and foodies as some of the best restaurants are located here. After gaining important calories for the rest of the day, lets continue discover Prenzlauer Berg! The Kulturbrauerei (the culture brewery) was built as a brewery in the 19th century and today it is a cultural center. We continue downhill, careful not to hit the children along the way, until we enter Fridrichshein, another big neighborhood in east Berlin, here we enter a big beautiful park with the same name. Volkspark friedrichshain is a very popular park, today they even shoot a movie here. There are a lot of asphalt roads here, so cycling is very smooth and relaxing. Next we cycle towards Karl marx allee, Stalin alle in the old soviet times, this enormous and wide street was used for soviet propaganda and military parades back in the cold war. While cycling along this street you can look at the remarkable soviet architecture around you. Let’s turn right now in Frankfurter tor and start rolling along the warschauer strasse. At the end of it we reach the famous oberbaumbrucke and the largest remnant of the Berlin wall, East side gallery. Let’s take this moment to walk slowly along the beautiful drawings on the wall. Next, we continue with full power towards schillingbrucke, that leads as back to west Berlin, right to my favorite neighborhood, Kreuzberg! There we can see the St. Michael's Church that was heavily damaged during the Second World War and today it is protected as a historical monument. The garden in front of it was ones a channel, connecting the river spree and the landver channel. And today it is a beautiful and unique walking and biking trail. At the end of it we reach oranienstrasse, where we will turn left and right at Adalbertstraße. After the big square kottbusser tor, we continue straight ahead on kottbusser damm until we reach Herman platz. From there we enter park hasenheide that connect us with the amazing tempelhofer feld, the old airport that is now one of the most beloved open fields in Berlin. Let’s cycle on the runway until we find the north/western exit. Now we rolling down hill to the heart of Kreuzberg, we say hello to the beautiful waterfall in Viktoriapark and continue towards out final destination, park am gleisdreieck.

Berlin Cycling Mitte Friedrichstraße ???????? Germany [4K] 2020 Checkpoint Charlie
Friedrichstraße is Berlin’s north-south axis and runs in a straight line through Mitte and Kreuzberg. You can stroll and shop here, visit the famous Checkpoint Charlie border crossing or one of the theatres.
There are many new buildings such as the Friedrichstadtpassagen with designer boutiques, offices and restaurants. Quartier 207 contains the department stores Les Galeries Lafayette with French fashion, lifestyle accessories and a delicatessen department with specialities from France. Designed by the architect Jean Nouvel, it has an impressive transparent glass façade and an atrium that narrows towards the ground. The neighbouring Quartier 206, where you can shop in elegant designer boutiques, is built in the extravagant Art Déco style.
Berlin by Bike: Mitte, Alexanderplatz, Brandenburger Tor (Travel Videoblog 022)
Almost all popular sights of Berlin are located in the quarter Berlin-Mitte in the center of the city. If you want to do sightseeing in the summertime i recommend to rent a bike and just cycle around - like i did in this Video ;)
The itinerary shown in between can be found on the website mentioned below.
BTW: I rented a bicycle by using the Call a Bike system of the Deutsche Bahn (just Google for that for more informtion)
Have fun cycling through Berlin!

Bamboo bikes new trend on the streets of Berlin
Berlin, Germany - 22 June 2013

6. SOUNDBITE: (English): Daniel Vogel-Essex: Ozon Cyclery co-founder:
The frame weights about two kilos. Our frames weight generally around two kilos, which is equivalent to a high-end steel frame. Like sometimes, we have had one that was a kilo and a half. That was, I think, the lightest. And, like for touring bikes or like someone who is really tall, they can go maybe 2.5 kilos. I think the heaviest we have ever built was like three. So you have to really, really make it thick and robust to get it to three kilos.

15. SOUNDBITE: (English): Daniel Vogel-Essex, Ozon Cyclery co-founder:
People say steel is real. You know, steel... a steel frame rides really nicely. A lot of people don't like the way that aluminium rides because it's really super stiff and uncomfortable. I want to make a bumper sticker that says 'bamboo is realer.' Like, you start with an aluminium frame, it's really super stiff and uncomfortable. You go to a steel frame and you think 'oh this rides really great', it's really... it's stiff but at the same time it is comfortable to ride. And, with bamboo you can get an even stiffer frame, like torsional stiffness is even better but then the vibration absorption is even better than steel. So its both qualities are better.

19. SOUNDBITE: (English): Daniel Vogel-Essex: Ozon Cyclery co-founder:
Bamboo is perfect for custom frames. It's perfect for frames where ever frame is different, because every bamboo pole is different. You have the option when you build a bamboo frame to pick the tubing that is perfect for you. The right diameter, the right wall thickness. Which Where. Since every tube is different, then you order one... one stack of bamboo and you got all sorts of different options which is perfect for custom hand building a frame.

I think when you ride through the city with a normal bike you get ignored. But I have heard from the other people here that with this kind of bike people stop you to speak to you.

25. Mid tracking shot of cycling; tilt up
26. SOUNDBITE: (English): Daniel Vogel-Essex, Ozon Cyclery co-founder:
I think it will be easy for us to give a 10-year guarantee on a frame. Right now, if anyone can get one of our frames to break within two years, I would happily sponsor them. Because that means that they are riding a lot. Right?
