We took the MRT out of Taipei to DanShui, which is at the end of the red line. DanShui is a coastal city with a park and a boardwalk area featuring street food, cute shops, and game stalls along the waterfront. We highly recommend a meal at Yeh's Wonton Restaurant: 177 Chung Cheng Road (wenchou.com.tw)! You may also want to check out Danshui Church and Red Castle, which are legacies of European colonialism. 淡水為北台灣基督長老教會發展的根據地，而功勞最大者首當加拿大長老教會馬偕牧師。馬偕博士於西元 1872 年 3 月 9 日 抵達淡水後，就積極地展開傳教的工作。也學習閩南語和地方文化，而原租賃的房子，不但是作為醫院，也是傳教的地方。而在 1873 年為第一批信徒施洗，因無教堂，僅在租用住宅內進行。為了擴張宣教，經常率領學生到各地傳教，開設教會，交由學生主持。雖然經歷許多波折，卻能讓教會分布於整個北台灣，而北部第一所教堂設於五股，淡水教堂則是後來由偕醫館醫師宿舍所改建的，現為縣定古蹟。
1901 年馬偕去世，教會進入了新的時代，由於實際及擴展需要，教堂於 1915 年改建為一所北美洲樣式，磚造白灰牆，俗稱白色禮拜堂，鐘樓設於正門上方。 1928 年因不敷使用，決定改建，興建經費除了由會友、學生和各友會奉獻外，其大部分由馬偕牧師兒子偕叡廉，向加拿大母會申請補助，且親自設計、督建。於 1932 年改建，至 1933 年 9 月 3 日 完工。
淡水禮拜堂有著仿哥德式的尖塔，採用扶壁，柱頭以小帽尖裝飾，外牆以清水磚砌造，內部採用有鋼筋的 RC 柱及樓板，屋頂大跨距的鐵骨承拖住，再以木板作天花板，左邊是高聳的鐘塔。 1986 年屋頂因傳統屋瓦維修困難，故採用進口鋁質浪板全面翻修，也將傳統玻璃改為鑲鉗彩色玻璃，教堂正面有著聖父、聖子、聖靈「三位一體」，鐘樓則是「五餅二魚」及「客西馬尼禱告」的基督教義，而教堂已配合淡水風光，成為有名的觀光景點

TAIWAN (DAY 4): ELEPHANT MOUNTAIN, BEITOU, TAMSUI
Hi everyone!
For our last full day in Taiwan, we decided to hike up Elephant mountain. Admittedly I underestimated the amount of effort it took to climb to the top but the view was definitely worth it. It was a very humbling experience.
For lunch we made our way up to Xinbeitou to experience what the famous hot spring town had to offer! Kendra and I had a fun time lounging about in the bath to soothe our aching joints.
When we finished our tour of Xinbeitou we took the train to the last top on the red line (Tamsui) to catch the sunset by the pier. :)
It was such a fun day and we made wonderful memories. :) I'll definitely be back, Taipei.
This ends my Taiwan series. Expect some other vlogs in the coming weeks!

Hey guys! Join me as I navigate through Taiwan!
On today's menu:
My aunt decided it was time to take me to Tamsui (Danshui)! This is a small port city, but very pretty during the evening time. Fortunately we got there early in the morning time so there weren't that many stalls open. I got to try some of the more different types of food there. They had shrimp rolled in spring roll, and then fried, they also had iron eggs, and there was also cheese bread! All very tasty and inexpensive!
While we were in Tamsui we also got to check out the Dutch buildings (Fort San Domingo), and the church. Even though I didn't understand what my aunt was saying about the church it was still very nice (I didn't get to film the Fort because my aunt wanted me to take more pictures).

17century, 1628, Spanish built Fuerte Santo Domingo in Danshui(Tamsui), Taipei. 1643, the Dutch East India Company built Fort Antonio on same site. They called Danshui(Tamsui), city of the oriental Venezia. Danshui is the most beautiful view town in Taipei, Taiwan.
