Taste Of London - The Essence Of Home Cooking: Shelly Adams. A British Hertiage - Episode 5
❝The Experience❞
We are invited into the home of the Adams Family to share with Shelly what I considered to be a fulfilling experience that left me with a full stomach.
More importantly I was privileged to share a part of a British Heritage, to taste a certified traditional dish that is known through out the land.
Famous for the farm where its main ingredient comes from known as the Yorkshire Rhubarb Triangle, Shelly shares with us today a dish called Rhubarb Crembrules which is full of British flavour with a coating of a French mix.
This is her story.

7. SOUNDBITE: (English) Alfred Prasad, Director of Cuisine and Executive Chef, UK Tamarind Collection restaurants:
The recession certainly does not impact the high-end restaurants as much as it could have. However, of course, a lot of the middle of the road restaurants did struggle. The ones at the lower price point probably did well too so it's a mix. On the positive side, it probably weeded out some not so good restaurants and brought in some fresh concepts. So we've seen that since 2008, when the recession really started that the London restaurant scene has evolved rapidly.

16. SOUNDBITE: (English) Silvio Ursini, Owner of Obika, Italian Mozzarella Bar Chain:
It's a really special thing. It's something that cheese makers make only on very special occasions. It's what we call a braid because it's a braided mozzarella. Rather than making the usual ball, they make a long and thin tube and then they braid it. It's ten kilograms so twenty pounds and so it's suitable for parties, or fairs or very special occasions like that and it tastes great.

Michel Roux Junior's little stall and that was really nice so we had something from there as well. We had the soup from there that was really nice.

26. SOUNDBITE (English) Michel Roux Junior, Co-owner of Le Gavroche, the UK's first Michelin starred restaurant:
If there's a trend that's going to happen anywhere in the world in the food scene it happens here, it happens here at Taste of London. I always come here and I find inspiration, there are great things to eat and see and different ways of presenting food. And it's not just London chefs, or London-based chefs, we've got chefs flying in from all over the world coming here.

A Taste of London at Four Seasons Hotel Ten Trinity Square
The city of London has been a source of creative inspiration for centuries. Follow Four Seasons Hotel London at Ten Trinity Square Sous Chef Kamarl John on a typical day to see how this inspiration makes its way onto your plate, brought to life with the freshest ingredients from nearby Borough Market.
Just steps from the Tower of London and Tower Bridge, Four Seasons Hotel London at Ten Trinity Square is an ideal home base for exploring the City of London’s 2,000 year history, and its dynamic present. Arts and cultural sites abound, and London’s best markets are within walking distance. Getting around London via the River Thames is particularly convenient from the nearby Tower Millennium Pier.
A fashionable new landmark for dining and entertaining in the City of London, Four Seasons Hotel London at Ten Trinity Square offers two destination restaurants – French and Asian – as well as The Rotunda, an all-day restaurant, bar and lounge. La Dame de Pic showcases the culinary vision of Anne-Sophie Pic, currently the only female French chef to hold three Michelin Stars. For her London debut, Chef Pic brings her signature approach across the Channel, choosing to source ingredients from the very best local farms and markets. In her carefully crafted seasonal menus, culinary enthusiasts can expect to see items such as Hereford beef or Dorset crab prepared in the French style. The recently opened Mei Ume features the foods and flavours of China and Japan, with a sushi bar to round out lively celebration of two of the world’s most celebrated cuisines.
The Rotunda is a spectacular venue with an impressive bar – both in appearance and in what emerges from it – at its centre. It’s the perfect place to stop in for a break from shopping at the Royal Exchange or visiting the Tate Modern, and the ideal meeting place for after-work drinks enjoyed with friends, colleagues and the Hotel’s international guests.

Likay Hulu ลิเกฮูลู Dance at the Taste of London Festival 24th June 2012
Fun and lively dance from the Thai Dance Academy closing the Taste of London Festival at London's Regent's Park on 24th June 2012.
I'm not sure of the name of the dance but the costumes look Southern Thai or Malay and the music sounds a little Indian to me!
Update:
Apparently this performance is a Likay Hulu ลิเกฮูลู commonly performed in Thailand's Southern provinces of Pattani, Yala and Narathiwat. This is different from other likays in that the Malay dialect is used in the accompaniment of indigenous musical tunes.
