KO8 At Terre Blanche With Top Biomechanics Expert JJ Rivet
Recently we made a trip to the South of France to meet up with world renowned bio mechanics expert Jean-Jacques Rivet, at the European tour golf resort Terre Blanche. JJ has been leading the way in improving performance for many years in primarily golf and rugby, but also innovating how we analyse specific data to make the necessary increments in sport.
The concept of the KO8 is that we can apply it to a magnitude of movements to make them more difficult, so that when we go back to our given sport or activity, we become more powerful, efficient and fluid. Jean-Jacques took this even further by showing us some 'on the field' workouts that can be done anywhere between a coach and their player or client.
First off we are going through a resisted sprint where the coach dictates the level of resistance by either moving back to apply more resistance, or moving to the side to create a shift in the bands making it even more challenging to the core for stabilising the sprinting position for the client.
Next up we worked on a step transverse rotation which is a great move to load the gluteals and fire the obliques. An excellent exercise for the majority of sports where rotational movements are involved.
Finally we hit a really challenging core move, now with the coach using the anchor point over his shoulders. The purpose of this exercise is to maintain spinal neutrality and not flex or hyper extend in the lumbar (lower back) region. Also keeping scapula retraction while slowly lowering to the floor finishing off with with a plyometric press up.
Great work out with Jean-Jacques and really proud to have him as an advocate for KO8.
