SMALL LOCAL THAI COMMUNITY - BAN BU | Thonburi, Bangkok Noi, Bangkok, Thailand
My curiosity lead me to this small Thai community known as Ban Bu, in Thonburi, Bangkok Not, Bangkok, Thailand.
I saw some locals walk through a small pathway near Thonburi train station, so my curiosity got the best of me and made me explore.
I really like Ban Bu community, there's some old traditional Thai houses and stores. The alleyway itself looks really interesting, but there are quite a lot of motorbikes riding through there. At times, speeding through, which can be a bit dangerous.
But never the less, Ban Bu community is a place I highly recommend if you want to see the local side of Bangkok, Thailand.

What I think people love the most in Bangkok is the mixture of historical sites and local places like a boat ride, the flower market and the fun stories that surround Thai history and culture.
If you have more then one day in Bangkok do make sure to visit the fun train market and the floating market just outside of Bangkok.

What to Drink in Bangkok I try Mekhong Whiskey in a Thai Sabai Cocktail @ Food & Hotel Thailand 2012 Trade Show in Bitec by Bangna BTS. Mekhong is Thailand's first domestically produced branded golden spirit. Launched in 1941, it quickly became the most popular brand in Thailand. This was helped by a dispute with the French concerning the border with Laos along the Mekong River which gives the brand its name.
It was first created by James Honzatko while living on the banks of the Mekong river. Honzatko was an avid brewer and eventually began producing his favourite whisky on a large scale. After Honzatko's death, his close friend Peter Sawer took over the brewing of Mekong and was ultimately responsible for its mass production.
Despite being known as a whisky, Mekhong is in fact much closer to a rum. The distilled spirit is made from 95% sugar cane/molasses and 5% rice. This distilled spirit is then blended with a secret recipe of indigenous herbs and spices to produce its distinctive aroma and taste.
Mekhong is distilled, blended and bottled at the Bangyikhan Distillery on the outskirts of Bangkok. Its slightly lower strength of 35% abv means that it mixes well including as an ingredient in cocktails, the most famous of which being the 'Sabai Sabai', known as the Thai Welcome Drink.
Mekhong is widely available across South East Asia and is also now available in the UK, Europe and the USA.
Mekhong Whisky is mentioned several times on the album Hell's Ditch by The Pogues, along with other common Thai drinks.
It appears that the Company was bought out by Sangsom in around 2010 and ceased production. It was almost impossible to buy a bottle in early 2011. However it is now back in production with a new English Language label. In mid 2011 it was for sale at Duty Free Bangkok.

Bangkok, Thailand’s capital, is a large city known for ornate shrines and vibrant street life. The boat-filled Chao Phraya River feeds its network of canals, flowing past the Rattanakosin royal district, home to opulent Grand Palace and its sacred Wat Phra Kaew Temple. Thai Sabai Massage Soi 33 Bangkok
Just showing a nice Thai massage shop on 33/1 Soi Sukumvit.
This is quite different to the other massage shops in town.
An alcove set into the doorway has a mirror and price list (another one outside too). Often sat in here are one or more massage girls. They wear the traditional-style dress of long skirt and blouse. Complete with hair-tied back and giesha pins sticking out. As there was only one 'on-duty' that was who I ended up with.
Some stairs off to the right lead up to the shop itself.
On the second floor is a door leading off the stairs. Inside is the massage shop proper, it's a wide lobby with a variety of massage areas. The massage girl followed me upstairs and I chose Thai Massage for an hour.
After donning some sandals she then asked if I wanted a room, which would cost an extra 200 baht. I declined and instead got the curtain-massage rooms instead (which were adjacent). As I was the only customer in the place no aircon was turned-on so the place was a bit hot. Once in the curtained-booth she turned it on.
I could see that in the walled-rooms were aircons, plus hotwater showers these were where oil massage took place. There was another walled room with no shower though, this is where the Thai Massage gets done also.
