The Armory’s New Balance Track and Field Center , has made some major improvements over the years , from when long distance runner , and Miler Steve Taylor used to run on this indoor track - it was plain old wood - flat all the way around 220 yards. Now the surface has been upgraded with a material that is more conducive for faster times, and world record attempts ! It was at the Millrose Games where Irish Miler great Eamonn Coghlan earned the nickname, Chairman of the Boards (because the surface of the track was made of wooden boards).
About The Armory Foundation: The Armory is a New York City non-profit institution, with the mission of Keeping Kids on Track. Each season the Armory- the proud home of the NYRR Millrose Games- hosts more than 100 track & field meets and welcomes more than 125,000 athlete visits. Besides its many youth sports and educational programs, The Armory runs the Armory Track
Invitational, the U.S. Army Hispanic Games, Artie O'Connor College Invitational, Armory NYC Indoor Marathon, the New Balance Games, and the New Balance Nationals Indoors. The Armory is also the home to the National Track & Field Hall of Fame.

From Wikipedia:
Flushing is a neighborhood in the New York City borough of Queens in the United States. While much of the neighborhood is residential, Downtown Flushing, centered on the northern end of Main Street in Queens, is a large commercial and retail area and is the fourth largest central business district in New York City.
Flushing is claimed to be a birthplace of religious freedom in the New World. Landmarks remaining from the Dutch period in Flushing include the John Bowne House on Bowne Street and the Old Quaker Meeting House on Northern Boulevard. The Remonstrance was signed at a house on the site of the former State Armory, now a police facility, on the south side Northern Boulevard between Linden Place and Union Street.
In the 21st century, Flushing has cemented its status as an international melting pot, predominantly attracting immigrants from Asia, particularly from throughout the various provinces of China, but including newcomers from all over the world. Flushing Chinatown is centered around Main Street and the area to its west, most prominently along Roosevelt Avenue, which have become the primary nexus of Flushing Chinatown. However, Chinatown continues to expand southeastward along Kissena Boulevard and northward beyond Northern Boulevard. The Flushing Chinatown houses over 30,000 individuals born in China alone, the largest Chinatown by this metric outside Asia and one of the largest and fastest-growing Chinatowns in the world

After years in a refugee camp, he was adopted by an American family that encouraged him to pursue his interest in track and field. went on to become a world-class collegiate then professional runner, and in 2008 he was the flag bearer for the United States at the Olympic Games in Beijing.

There's an 400-meter Mondo Super X Performance running track, flanked by covered spectator seating for 5,000. It offers top notch facilities including modern locker rooms, showers as well as fitness, exercise and meeting rooms.
A FIFA certified soccer field lies to the north of the Stadium, with an artificial surface, fencing, lighting and bleachers.
