Driving Through Lee Highway (Rt 29) - Arlington, Virginia , USA | Residential Areas
Lee Highway (also known as Rt. 29) is one of several main thoroughfares through Arlington.

The Lee Highway was a national auto trail in the United States, connecting New York City and San Francisco, California, via the South and Southwest. After receiving a letter on January 15, 1919, from Dr. Samuel Myrtle Johnson of Roswell, New Mexico, David Carlisle Humphreys of Lexington, Virginia, put out a call for a meeting in Roanoke, Virginia, to form a new national highway association. Introduction to Arlington, Virginia.
Arlington is a county located in the Commonwealth of Virginia, on the west bank of the Potomac River directly across from Washington, D.C. Although sometimes referred to as a city, Arlington is actually a county which contains no incorporated towns or cities within its boundaries. Originally part of the 10-mile square area set aside in 1791 for the nation’s capital, the land now comprising Arlington County was returned to the Commonwealth of Virginia by the U.S. Congress in 1846 and was known at the time as Alexandria County. In 1852, the independent City of Alexandria was incorporated from a portion of the County, leading to confusion, as two adjacent municipal entities continued to share the same name (Alexandria). The confusion was resolved in 1920, when Alexandria County renamed itself Arlington County, borrowing its name from the Arlington National Cemetery, which had been established during the Civil War on the grounds of Confederate General Robert E. Lee's former home, Arlington House.
Although best known generally as the home of the Pentagon, The Iwo Jima War Memorial, and Arlington National Cemetery, the County is also an important employment center. The Federal Government accounts for the lion's share of the roughly 200,000 jobs in Arlington, but high-tech companies have become increasingly prominent, as have several major associations, Fortune 500 companies, and other nationally known employers. The County’s residential population is among the most highly educated in the nation and is increasingly diverse. Arlington is the home of Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport and is serviced by the Orange, Blue and Yellow lines of the Washington Metro. The County is traversed by two Interstate highways, I-66 and I-395; as well as by the George Washington Memorial Parkway.
Arlington Area Attractions
The name Arlington is synonymous in many people's minds with Arlington National Cemetery, the most famous national cemetery in the United States. Veterans from all the nation's wars are buried in the cemetery, as are two former Presidents (John F. Kennedy and William Howard Taft). Also located in Arlington are the Pentagon, headquarters of the United States Department of Defense, and several notable memorials, including the U.S. Marine Corps War Memorial (also known as the Iwo Jima Memorial), the U.S. Air Force Memorial, and the Women in Military Service for America Memorial.
Other attractions in Arlington include the Arlington Arts Center, founded in 1976 and housed in the historic Maury School; the Arlington Historical Museum, housed in a two-story brick structure built in 1891 and currently standing as the oldest school building in Arlington County. The Ball-Sellers house, a one-room log cabin with a loft built by a farmer named John Ball in 1742, is a rare example of an ordinary person's dwelling of the 1700s. The Ellipse Arts Center is a 3,000 square foot visual arts facility which opened in 1990, and presents a diverse schedule of high quality programs in the visual arts. A wealth of other attractions abound in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area, including the following:
The National Mall

Guitarist Dat Nguyen in Sydney 2012 - (Nguyen Duc Dat)
Yêu đời, đời sẽ yêu ta... 9/11/2012 @ Mouties Club, Australia
Dat Nguyen was born in 1971 in Viet Nam, blind from birth and orphaned at age five. He began his music studies at age eleven, playing drums, and became interested in classical music two years later. In 1988, a friend introduced him to the recordings of Andres Segovia, and an immediate enchantment with the guitar and its music led him to decide to devote his life to studying and performing on the classical guitar.
Dat and his younger sister came to the United States in 1991 under the auspices of the ODP, since Dat's father had been an American serviceman. For the next two and a half years, Dat had little opportunity for formal study of the guitar. In 1993, still in high school, he was a prize-winning guitarist in the Disney Creativity Challenge. Later that year, he enrolled as a guitar performance major at California State University, Fullerton, under the direction of David Grimes.
In 1994, Dat won the Southern California ASTA Solo Guitar Competition, and went on to win first prize at the Califonia state finals. An extensive1995 article in the Orange County Register on his life and achievements led to many performance invitations, including a showcase at the Westminster Mall's Asian New Year's Festival in 1996. The same article also inspired a feature article subsequently published in the March, 1997 issue of the Reader's Digest.
While working to complete his college studies, Dat performs regularly for audiences throughout southern California. In November, 1996 he was presented on the Multi-Cultural Arts Series in San Juan Capistrano, where he was the first Vietnamese artist to be so recognized. He was one of the artists presented on the Guest Artist Series at Pacific Union College in November, 1997.
Dat was a California representative and a national finalist in the 1996-1997 Very Special Arts Program, sponsored by Panasonic. In April of 1997 he was the feature performer at the Imagine This Festival at Main Place in Santa Ana.
In June, 1997 Dat was the headliner for the Informally Yetits program at the Orange County Performing Arts Center, offering ten performances over two weeks to a variety of audiences ranging from young children to the Arts Center Founders. In July 1997, he performed in a spedal Young Soloists Showcase at the Orange County Performing Arts Center. He has been selected for the From the Center outreach program that takes artists and their music to many southland schools.
Dat has performed with the Philharmonic Society Youth Orchestra at the Orange County Performing Arts Center and at Los Angeles' Dorothy Chandler Pavilion. He has completed a Bachelor's degree in Classical Guitar Performance at Califontia State University, Fullerton (May, 1999). He performs frequently with Inner Vision, a guitar quartet that specializes in original music with a flamenco and Latin flavor.
Dat's goal is to continue building a career as a concert guitarist, composer and teacher. He has been very active in the Southern California Vietnamese community, raising substantial funds for the Vietnamese Refugee Fund in 1996. Dat was selected by the Orange County Register as one of fifteen people representing the varied aspects of Orange County culture at the close of the millennium.

Come Tour Stafford County, Virginia
I created this video with the YouTube Video Editor ( This video is about the really cool historical sites of Stafford County, Virginia. I talk about a couple of other sites in our county but I do show photos and a video of a couple others as well.
Some of the historical sites you could see in our area and within our county here in Stafford County, Virginia are:
1. The Aquia Episcopal Church which is a church here that is one of the oldest colonial churches in the United States of America. The church was first built in 1751 and burnt down in a fire in 1757 in which was rebuilt that very same year soon after the fire of 1757. The church is still being used to this day for Sunday church services but they do tours of the church but you have to call the church to make an appointment to tour this church.
2. Then we have Ferry Farm which is the childhood home for the first President of the United States of America, George Washington. Which is down in the Falmouth part of Stafford County in the southern part of the county.
3. Then we have the Aquia Quarry that is known as Government Island nearby the Aquia Creek. Which this place is where George Washington got the sandstone that built the White House and the U.S. Capital building in Washington, DC. Which basically is where the foundation of our nation's capital was brought from this spot directly to our nation's capital Washington, DC. So if you go to these two buildings in DC and wanted to see the place where the sandstone came from to build those buildings you would have to come here to Stafford County. All since it all came from here. And I made a video of Government Island and it was my first time over there. And now I've been living right around the corner from this place for 10 years and I finally got the courage to go there.
4. Then not far from here we have the battlefield sites for 5 Civil War battlefields close by as well. And a mansion that was built in colonial times that served as a headquarters and hospital for the Union army during the American Civil War during the Battle of Fredericksburg. Those 5 battlefields are from: the Battle of Fredericksburg, the Battle of Spotsylvania Courthouse, the Battles of Bull Run in Manassas, the Battle of the Wilderness, and the Battle of Chancellorsville.
5. We also have nearby in Triangle, Virginia right outside the main gate to the Quantico Marine Corps Base is the National Museum of the Marine Corps. Which outside of the museum is a monument park with bricks of names of people who has served in the United States Marine Corps. My father is one of those former MARINES who had served. His name was Captain Donald J St. Pierre his brick has his date of birth of 11/19/59 and his date of death of 07/05/03 on it. When you go to this museum you can remind yourself that man was my father when you see that brick at this museum.
6. We are also within the area of the historical Virginia city of Fredericksburg as well.
To learn more about our county you may visit our county's website at: Our county has been a county in Virginia since 1664 so we are a county that is now over 350 years old. We had just had our 350th anniversary of our founding back in 2014. I had put this video together because back when I was a student at the Washington, DC Job Corps Center. I told people I was from Stafford and they asked me. Where the heck is that place I've never heard of that place? And I have felt with the kind of history our county has I think this Virginia county should be the most famous Virginia county throughout the world. All since the foundation of our nation's capital came from here and we also have the childhood home of the very first president of our nation. The is where George Washington grew up. Plus that famous cherry tree story about Washington may have took place here back when Washington was a young boy. Since Washington grew up here from the ages of 3 to 19 at Ferry Farm.
