Rock hounding (crystals) at Highway 97 and Westside road.
Took the kids out rock hounding today, looking for zeolites, quartz crystals, Amethyst, and found some citrine too. The new Westside road interchange off highway 97 in West Kelowna has blasted out some of Mount Boucherie's basalt revealing many fresh vugs full of all sorts of Silicates. Some quite exciting.

This prickly and barren landscape looks like Africa on the cover and we could have swore we saw pride rock. Adventure ensues with our hike in dark, eating prickly pear, and wondering what strange noises lurk around us.
A successful trip over all but fell short of visiting the fabled Enchanted Rock due to weather conditions.
That just means we have to come back next time!
