Belfast Situation Shorter Version Of Grave Riots In Belfast (1920)

Intertitle: BELFAST, IRELAND. Situation in Ireland grows more tense every day - ruins resulting from war between revolutionists and British troops.
M/S of children playing amongst the rubble resulting from a fierce battle. M/S of a Loyalist mural on the end of a terrace - very similar to the Loyalist murals you would see in Belfast today.
Intertitle: Effigies dangling from windows are familiar sights in the streets of Belfast.
Low angle M/S of a terrace house - the Union Jack is flying from the window, two scarecrow-like dummies hang by their necks from the guttering - obviously effigies of Nationalists, very gruesome. Good M/S of a Loyalist street - Union Jacks hang from the window of every coal stained terrace house, children watched by their mothers play on the cobbles, at the end of the street we can see the hills.
Intertitle: The government has reinforced its guard on all thoroughfares.
M/S of armed troops standing behind a wall of sandbags at the end of a residential street, civilians walk past about there daily business. C/U of British troops standing on guard in the doorway of a building, they are sheltered by more sandbags and barbed wire.
