Welcome the the lighting of the Christmas Tree at National Harbor just south of Washington DC in Oxen Hill MD.
We would like to thank the Management and staff of the AC Hotel at National Harbor for allowing us to use their facility for the making of this video.
Let's Visit National Harbor, MD
In this video, I head over to National Harbor, MD, located near Oxon Hills, MD on the eastern side of the Potomac River. You can also see Alexandria, VA on the other side of the river. In this video, I show the riverfront, some of the downtown area, and sights of the Gaylord National Resort and Convention Center, a resort which hosts major events such as the Scripps National Spelling Bee and MAGFest (a popular video game and music festival held every January).

Film sequence was shot in twenty minutes, mid afternoon, on a Wednesday. Post production editing took approximately 1 hour.

For Thanksgiving this year we decided to go the the Washington National Harbor in Oxon Hill, Maryland. It's a billion dollar development in the area that started just within the last twenty years or so. In it there are many great shops and cafes and also tourist sights like the large sculpture of the giant man coming out of the ground entitled The Awakening.
There are also smaller sculptures all around the compound. Figures of representatives of all five branches of the Armed Forces: Army, Marines, Navy, Air Force and Coast Guard. Also historic figures from politics like Abraham Lincoln, George Washington, Winston Churchill, Rosie the Riveter and Frederick Douglass. And also famous figures from Hollywood like Marilyn Monroe, upon seeing which I couldn't help but steal a kiss!
It is also home to the Capital Wheel, a large ferris wheel type attraction where you can experience some incredible views of the entire Washington DC area when you get to the top!
Also here is the original Air Force One, the plane that carried the President of the United States to functions all over the country and all over the world, but alas that particular attraction has been closed for some time now.
And finally the main attraction of the area, the MGM National Harbor Casino and Hotel. We spend a good deal of time here and I even win some money in the casino! Who needs Vegas?!

Though the actual Air Force One is kept at Joint Base Andrews, a full-size 747 replica of the famous plane will soon go on display roughly 10 miles away at National Harbor as part of the Children’s Democracy Project. (WTOP/Alejandro Alvarez)
