Why I mov d to Williamsport: Thoughts on leaving the hospital
It is 6 AM on Wednesday, April 17th. I am a patient at UPMC Hospital—not at all rested as I usually force myself to be. After three nights in the hospital, I am scheduled for discharge later this morning.
For all of 2018, I was seriously ill in State College where I lived for 15 years. There in a Downtown de facto nursing home my daily view from the window was of the parking lot where once a week I watched my elderly and disabled neighbors be placed into an ambulance. Many never to return.
My February first move to the Pajama Factory for an office and the Ginetti Hotel for a place to sleep until I found something permanent represented a commitment— an insistence that never again would I be warehoused neglectfully as I was in State College exclusively with the elderly, disabled, sick, and poor.
I will emerge today with a step forward in dealing with a major health problem. The problem was caused by radiation burn to my throat, esophagus and GI tract. The burn was an unintended consequence of cancer treatment that saved my life many years ago. The burn is a more recent side effect of the radiation treatment that 25 years ago resulted in burning a hole in my spine this making me a paraplegic unable to walk or stand for longer than a minute or two.

Neck pain is a common problem, with two-thirds of the population having neck pain at some point in their lives. Plantar fasciitis is a disorder that results in pain in the heel and bottom of the foot. The pain is usually most severe with the first steps of the day or following a period of rest. Shoulder pain may be localized or may be referred to areas around the shoulder or down the arm. Migraines are believed to be due to a mixture of environmental and genetic factors.
Neck pain, although felt in the neck, can be caused by numerous other spinal problems. Neck pain may arise due to muscular tightness in the neck and upper back, or pinching of the nerves emanating from the cervical vertebrae. Joint disruption in the neck creates pain, as does joint disruption in the upper back. Most headaches comes from structures in the neck. The joints and nerves in the upper neck, the muscles of the upper shoulder, and the muscles of the jaw. Those three are the keys to headache pain. Do You Have Any of the Following Conditions? Arthritis, knee pain, cartilage damage, 'bone-on-bone', tendonitis,, bursitis, crunching & popping sounds.
Maybe your knee pain keeps you from walking short distances or playing golf like you used to.
Chiropractors correct subluxation by manipulation of the vertebrae (and sometimes other areas of the body). Chiropractors call this an adjustment. Spinal adjustments are usually done manually, the chiropractor using his or her hands to apply pressure to the spine to coax the vertebrae into proper alignment.
Laser Therapy is an outpatient, non-surgical procedure, often used in physical therapy and sports medicine to accelerate the healing process. It offers non-invasive treatment to promote healing for those who suffer from pain in muscles, nerves, and joints, like that associated with chronic pain.
While rest and ice help with any inflammatory condition, chiropractors can also help decrease heel pain. Through the use of stretches, exercises, adjusting and in-office physical therapy modalities, a pain-free lifestyle may be obtained.
“It's been about three years since I actually slept more than 2 hrs a night. With heat laser treatment to my neck and back I don't have back pain any more. I can sleep, sit, walk the mall without any discomfort. I was so amazed that the relief was so complete thanks to heat laser treatment.” – Christy D., Hughesville, PA

Collaborating for the Arts
Pennsylvania College of Technology, the Community Arts Center and Lycoming College have joined forces to enhance the arts in north-central Pennsylvania. The three Williamsport entities have signed an agreement that will increase Lycoming's use of the storied Arts Center and facilitate joint efforts between the two schools to support the arts. The result should be more performing arts, academic and community outreach events at the historic 2,100-seat theatre.

Penn College Presents: ILYYPNC, Not Tonight, I'm Busy, Busy, Busy (Act 01 Scene 02)
I Love You, You're Perfect, Now Change is Pennsylvania College of Technology's second annual musical and is sponsored by the Penn College Student Activities Office. It was presented November 12th - 14th, 2009 in the ACC building at 7:00pm. The show was directed by Jacquie Engel of the Williamsport Community Theatre League.
All of the video comes from the official DVD of the show. I did some minor editing (mostly audio) and cut the video in Adobe Premier Pro CS4. Please not that the low and high pitch noises that can be heard has nothing to do with my upload, this was a problem with the source recording. Apparently it was a lot worse before Randy and his team did some work on it.
Special thanks to Mike Hersh and Randy Curry for getting me a copy of the DVD!
