Cotton Museum at Memphis Cotton Exchange Photostory
This is a photostory I created about the Cotton Museum located at the Memphis Cotton Exchange building in downtown Memphis, Tennessee. The building offers a rich history of the impact of cotton on the United States and the world.
Memphis Cotton Exchange
Nearly 20 billion new items of clothing are purchased each year. Where does it all come from? We follow the Cotton Trail in this week's episode of Garden Style. First stop, the Cotton Museum in Memphis, Tennessee.
Cotton Museum in Memphis, Tennessee
We really enjoyed visiting this museum in downtown Memphis (right down from The Peabody Hotel, where we stayed). This is a fun place to visit when you are in Memphis and if you are interested in learning all about the history of cotton, this is definitely your place! It's also a great place to see a cotton plant, if you've never seen one before. It doesn't take too long to see everything, and you tour it on your own. We also really liked the small gift shop. They have some cute, unique gifts -- all made with cotton -- naturally! :)

Memphis Parade - Main Street - Early 60's - Cotton Carnival?
Converted some old home movie films to digital, and one thing on them was this parade. I suspect it's a Cotton Carnival parade due to the bands from Texas and Alabama - and the use of cotton on some of the floats.
The music is not what was playing (obviously) but was put on there by the guys who converted it for me. It works though...
Note how many kids are in the parade, both marching and on the floats.
Oh, and apparently there was a fire somewhere as fire trucks and equipment crash the party early in the recording...
Can anyone confirm this is the Cotton Carnival?
