Utah Premiere Brass plays Chanson Trevaux
At the Covey Center for the Arts in Provo, Utah. Arranged by John Golland. Tenor Horn solo by Sonja Reynolds.
Utah Premiere Brass was formed in the year 2000 in an effort to revive a musical genre that was once the pride of almost every Utah community. At the turn of the 20th century, over 100 brass bands performed throughout the state. Today, UPB is the only known British brass band in the state, although it is hoped that more will emerge in the future. Consisting of thirty musicians, Utah Premiere Brass has attracted professional players from all areas of the state of Utah and even beyond.
This British-style brass band has a unique sound capable of playing whisper soft passages and powerful fortissimos. Performances featuring Utah Premiere Brass also showcase a breadth of musical styles, including original symphonies, light classical, jazz, Broadway music, solo concertos, and others.
Public response to Utah Premiere Brass has been astonishing. An emerging blend of musicianship and humor has produced overwhelming audience support, and the group is now a well known force in the performing arts world.
The Utah Premiere Brass is directed by Dr. Todd Fiegel.

Milo Allman plays Gershwin Concerto in F: 3rd movement [3-min. cut]
I was SO excited to meet Milo Allman (a spectacularly gifted & expressive 15-year-old pianist) & his totally delightful mom, Beth, last Saturday afternoon! ♪♪ Milo & I rehearsed the ROCKIN' 3rd movement of George Gershwin's Piano Concerto F at the Piano Gallery of Orem w/ his teacher, Dr. Ralph van der Beek (my incredible former piano teacher at Weber State University & also my spiritual godfather)! ♥
Tomorrow, I'll be accompanying Milo on the Gershwin at the Utah Valley Symphony's annual Young Artists competition (at Timpview High School in Provo)...if he's chosen as a winner, he'll get to perform this piece w/ the symphony on 2/20 & 2/21/20 at the Covey Center for the Arts! :D We prepared a 3-minute cut of the piece (for prelims) & also a 5-minute cut (for finals), so here's a video we filmed last Saturday of the exciting 3-minute cut in the Piano Gallery's beautiful recital hall! ♪♪
Tonight, I also went down the rabbit hole of watching all of the brilliantly created/performed arrangements & compositions on Milo's YouTube channel! ♪♪ And I also watched Milo's SUPER special appearance/performance as mini Jon Schmidt in The Piano Guys' A Million Dreams music video (released last November)! :O DEFINITELY go check out those videos, you guys! You blow me away, Milo! You are seriously GOING places, my young friend & kindred spirit...& you really inspire me to arrange/compose more & dream big!! ^_^
Here is The Piano Guys' A Million Dreams music video (feat. Milo!!):
And here's a fun behind-the-scenes look at the Million Dreams video:
And please go subscribe to Milo's amazing YouTube channel & give his music videos some love!:
And here's my favorite piano/orchestra recording of this Gershwin concerto movement (feat. pianist Earl Wild):
