Diana, Princess of Wales, Memorial Walk.
This is a popular London walk covering four parks, three palaces, famous landmarks and wildlife in the parks. There are also lots of statues along the scenic route.
The Diana, Princess of Wales, Memorial Fountain - Hyde Park, London, U.K.
Very soothing and relaxing to hear the waters run; kids especially love this fountain because they can stick their feet in the water. It is just what the designer had in mind, to express the playful side of the late Princess Diana of Wales.
Located in Hyde Park in London, U.K., designed by Kathryn Gustafson, an American landscape artist. It was dedicated by Queen Elizabeth in 6 July 2004.

UK: LONDON: TOURISTS GATHER FOR PRINCESS DIANA WALK
English/Nat
Doing the Diana Walk.
Tourists have been lining up in London for a tour past the buildings, shops and places once frequented by Princess Diana.
Eager customers gather in the heart of London for a trip down memory lane.
An American television crew accompanies them - the interest in anything Diana-related has not abated.
Judging by the turnout on this typically blustery grey English day it's not just the media who can't get enough of the now well trodden Diana story.
But this is an opportunity to go down a path with a difference.
Those willing to fork out around six dollars for the privilege can experience at first hand the places familiar to the former royal herself.
The tour starts at the Ritz hotel in Green Park - a rather tangential and somewhat ghoulish reference to Diana's last supper which was of course at the Ritz in Paris.
From there the walk takes you down into the leafy Green Park where an impressive building is pointed out.
It belongs to the Spencer family, and is now leased out to the Rothschilds.
Desiree Erasmus, the American born tour guide, refers to it as their former pied-a-terre with a laugh.
The former international model and sometime actress gives a potted history of Diana interspersed with gossipy anecdotes and aides.
All of it can be picked up by reading some of the mountains of literature about Diana which abound in the world's bookshops.
But the thrill of seeing the places themselves at first hand is an unbeatable draw.
Venerable royal buildings are quickly skipped through - St James' Palace, the business headquarters of the Prince of Wales.
And Clarence House, the home of the Queen Mother, provides some colour in the form of a bearskin guard who ignores the huddle at the gates.
But once those historical sites are dispensed with, it's down to the real business of the tour - some window shopping at the stores favoured by Diana.
Jermyn Street is where Diana would come shopping for shirts for the Prince of Wales.
It does not go unremarked that the very smart shirt maker Turnbull and Asser is owned by Dodi al-Fayed's brother.
And of course it would be criminal to miss out the famous nightclub Tramp - although Desiree explains that Diana didn't like nightclubs that much.
This is followed by some envious strolling down the glitzy Bond Street to one of the jewellery stores favoured by the royals.
This is where Diana bought Dodi a gold cigar cutter before their fateful trip to Paris.
And then on to Berkeley Square to point out Annabels nightclub and tell the story about the night Diana and Fergie went there dressed as police officers, fooling all those around them.
The tour winds up outside apartments belonging to Mohammed al-Fayed on Park Lane, two hours - and about two miles - later.
None of the punters would have missed it for the world.
SOUNDBITE: (English)
It was sort of a nice contrast to some of the more historical things I guess we've seen since we've been here and it had a lot of interesting points - probably a lot of embellishment as well.

I thought it was very good, Desiree did an excellent job, she made it fun not as depressing like it could have been, considering the subject!

She's the ultimate soap opera isn't she? She's all about love, sex and death. And a fairy tale story indeed - but it went a little wrong I think.

It's difficult to know what Diana would make of it all, but Desiree is confident she'd approve.

STORY: UK: Diana Playground
LENGTH: 03:36
A children's playground built as a memorial to Britain's PRINCESS DIANA will open in central London on Friday following more than two years of controversy over the best way to pay tribute to her.
Planners decided on a playground after the upmarket local residents of Kensington fiercely opposed creating a garden, which they said would attract too many visitors to the area and turn into a tacky shrine for the Princess.
Project leaders felt that Princess Diana's love of children made their alternative choice particularly appropriate.
But the celebration has already been marred by claims that the Royal Family has snubbed the memorial to the much loved Princess. PRINCE CHARLES, her former husband, and their sons, WILLIAM AND HARRY, turning down an invitation to dedicate the playground and seven-mile walkway.
The Princess Diana Memorial playground cost more than two million U-S dollars to create and its central feature is a large wooden pirate ship. Finishing touches are hurriedly being made to the area before an opening ceremony on Friday (June 30).
It will be officially opened by Britain's Chancellor of the Exchequer, GORDON BROWN, who is head of the Memorial Committee which is responsible for deciding the most appropriate way to remember Diana.
Also at the opening, in the centre of London will be the Princess's close friend ROSA MONCKTON, whose five-year-old daughter Domenica, Diana's god-daughter, will cut a ribbon, opening the playground to the public.
Also opening on Friday will be a seven mile walkway with 89 plaques along it that highlight areas and buildings in the four royal parks that Princess Diana was associated with.
They include Kensington Palace, where Diana lived after her divorce from Prince Charles.

Earl Spencer's Eulogy at Diana's Funeral
APTV
London - 6 September 1997
(Speech overlaid with pictures of people mourning in Hyde Park)
Earl Spencer delivered an emotional eulogy to his sister Diana, Princess of Wales, attacking journalists who hounded her and directing veiled criticism towards the royal family.
SOT Diana was the very essence of compassion, of duty,of style, of beauty. All over the world she was a symbol of her selfless humanity. A standard bearer for the rights of the truly downtrodden. A very British girl who transcended nationality, someone with a natural nobility, who was classless who proved in the last year that she needed no Royal title to continue to generate her particular brand of magic
SOT Earl Spencer; There is no doubt that she was looking for a new direction in her life at this time. She talked endlessly of getting away from England mainly because of the treatment she received at the hands of the newspapers. I don't think she ever understood why her genuinely good intentions were sneered at by the media, why there appeared to be a permanent quest on their behalf to bring her down. It is baffling. My own and only explanation is that genuine goodness is threatening to those at the opposite end of the moral spectrum

The most wonderful thing of all was that when Lord Spencer, her brother, finished his address he came to an end and there was silence, as there is at a funeral, or at a memorial service, suddenly those of us in the Abbey heard outside, way away applause, and the applause seemed to move to the Abbey door, until the whole congregation in Westminster Abbey applauded what Earl Spencer had to say.

Diana memorial
One of the first things I shot on my new Camcorder. A brief tour around the Diana , princess of wales Memorial fountain:
I've since found out that most of the contraversy was around the fact that 3 people were hospitalised early on through slipping and bumping their heads, and that now they ahve to employ 6 wardens to stop people hurting themselves.
But still, I think it's a good monument to have.
