Honoring Man's Best Friend at the Dog Chapel
If you build it they will come (and bark and wag their tails). Dog Mountain and the Dog Chapel in St. Johnsbury, Vt., is an open dog park where dogs can connect with nature and enjoy spending time outside with their owners. Artist Steven Huneck built the chapel to commemorate, remember and celebrate our canine best friends.

The Dog Chapel ~ Stephen Huneck Dies at Age 60
The dog loving folk artist and author Stephen Huneck died on January 7, 2010 at age 60 of a self-inflicted gun shot wound. Story from CBC at this link:
Mr. Huneck was known for his wood carvings of dogs and his Dog Chapel. Originally a furniture maker, Mr. Huneck began making his wood carving after nearly dieing from a fall in 1994. When he emerged from the coma that was the result of the injury, he had a vision of creating a non-denominational dog chapel on his property where the public could remember dogs who passed away. He stated that his dog had help save his life when he was recovering and he would build the Dog Chapel as thanks. The Dog Chapel is located in St. Johnsbury, Vermont in the region of the State known as the Northeast Kingdom.
The video is from clips of our visit of the Dog Chapel In November 2005. There are several other videos of the Dog Chapel taken by others that should be in related videos. You will notice that in the more recent videos, the notes from dog lovers have taken over the back wall of the Chapel. In November 2005 when we visted, that wall was still bare.
My second video that I ever made The Paw House Inn should be in related videos too.
