At Eggleston Hall Gardens we are tackling a large overgrown conifer that has been a centre point on the lower lawn for decades. I has become too dominant and overpowering, so, not wanting to lose the maturity it brings to the gardens we are attempting to bring out its shape and turn an overgrown monster into a beautiful tree.
I am a great believer in exposing the trunk of trees...it is their heart, and like the lines a a persons face they reflect its maturity and character.

Bee nest removed at school playground in Norwich, Norfolk

A local pest control officer at Norfolk and Norwich Pest Control had a call out for a wasps nest in a children's school playground near Norwich, Norfolk, UK. The nest turned out not to be wasps but honey bees! The nest was actually a swarm of bees that had probably split from a nearby bee hive with a new queen and was resting on a low tree.
The pest control team worked with a local bee keeper to collect the swarm before it was able to move on to another part of the city or come in to harm. If you find a bee nest or swarm like the one here you can call them on Norwich (01603) 905530 to arrange collection, at no fee or charges.
