New York to Scranton Express Rail Link
Travel from Scranton to NYC in only 95 minutes?
It could be possible with this express rail link I am proposing between the two cities. Using high speed diesel trains on existing track right of way, you will reach speeds of up to 125mph and also slow down to enjoy the scenery of valleys and rivers on your journey. This rail route has stops at Scranton, East Stroudsburg, Dover, Montclair Walnut Street, and New York, for added convenience.
Special thanks to jackcolbypi for giving me this idea!

The Steamtown National Historic Site in Scranton, PA is a wonderful place to experience railroading. In this video, the museum's Canadian Pacific 4-6-2 #2317 heads east on the former Delaware, Lackawanna & Western mainline at Bridge 60 tower.
In the back is a freight train on the regional Delaware-Lackawanna Railroad. The Electric City Trolley Museum is just out of frame to the left.
The train is made up of a Lackawanna Boonton coach and a CNJ combine.
The video was shot in 1080i on a Canon 5D.

Riding Red Arrow Master Unit-based lightweight interurban car No. 80 (Part 1)
Riding the Electric City Trolley Museum's Red Arrow Master Unit-based lightweight interurban No. 80 from the Lackawanna County Stadium station and shop complex to the I-81 overpass, which is right before the entrance to the Crown Ave. Subway under the south side of Scranton. The trolley follows the right-of-way of the Lackawanna & Wyoming Valley RR for much of it's length. Car 80 was built by the J.G. Brill Co. in Philadelphia in 1932 for the Philadelphia & West Chester Traction Co. Four years after they were delivered the P&WCT merged with the neighboring Aronimink Transportation Co. to become the Philadelphia Suburban Transportation Co., better known as Red Arrow. The car was passed on to SEPTA in 1970 and ran for 10 more years until it was retired in 1980 due to electrical issues. It was purchased by the Buckingham Valley Trolley Association in 1982 and was restored and ran at the Philadelphia Waterfront for years until it was moved to Scranton in 2006. A sister to this car, No. 78 is a regular car at the PA Trolley Museum in Washington, PA. A smaller version of this car also runs on the Williamette Shore Trolley operation in Portland OR.

In this episode Leonard converses with a few dinosaurs to learn about anthracite, RANTO 50 tells the story of the Susquahannock and Lenape tribes in the pre-Scranton era, and lovable Freddie gives an in depth tour of Minooka. What a show!
What To Do in Scranton PA? Trains at Steamtown!
On this Airstream Life vLog, we head up to Scranton PA where we check out the Steamtown Historic Site run by the National Park Service. Entrance to Steamtown is totally free which is awesome! If you would like to take a ride on a historic steam engine then the cost is something like $5 a person.
The site itself has a very interesting setup. You walk around the roundhouse and each building is something different. They have a museum detailing the history of the railroad in America and focusing on the Scranton area. You can walk through a couple of historic train cars including a mail car where they would sort the mail as they went. You can also go through the maintenance area and see a bunch more historic trains.
If you like trains or are looking for an interesting free activity to do in the Scranton area we highly recommend it! After visiting Steamtown we headed back to the campground and before you know it, it was time for us to pack up and head out. Of course, it is another cold and rainy day but we are heading to a Harvest Host with full hookups! So stay tuned for that!

1924 Illinois Terminal Inter-urban Electric Train
Hayden and I recently visited one of our favorite places in Illinois, the Illinois Railway Museum. It is the largest railway museum in the United States, and is located in Union, Illinois. We go at least once a year. My father started taking us as young children. The magic of trains never fades.

Listening is a more natural way of learning, when compared to reading. Written language only began at around 3200 BC, but spoken language has existed long ago.
Learning by listening is a great way to:
- increases imagination and understanding
- improves your listening skills
- improves your own spoken accent
- learn while on the move
- reduce eye strain
Now learn the vast amount of general knowledge available on Wikipedia through audio (audio article). You could even learn subconsciously by playing the audio while you are sleeping! If you are planning to listen a lot, you could try using a bone conduction headphone, or a standard speaker instead of an earphone.

SUMMARY
=======
Scranton is the sixth-largest city in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. It is the county seat of Lackawanna County in Northeastern Pennsylvania's Wyoming Valley and hosts a federal court building. With a population of 77,291, it is the largest city in the Scranton–Wilkes-Barre–Hazleton, PA Metropolitan Statistical Area, which has a population of about 570,000.Scranton is the geographic and cultural center of the Lackawanna River valley, and the largest of the former anthracite coal mining communities in a contiguous quilt-work that also includes Wilkes-Barre, Nanticoke, Pittston, and Carbondale. Scranton was incorporated on February 14, 1856, as a borough in Luzerne County and as a city on April 23, 1866. It became a major industrial city, a center of mining and railroads, and attracted thousands of new immigrants. It was the site of the Scranton General Strike in 1877.
People in northern Luzerne County sought a new county in 1839 but the Wilkes-Barre area resisted losing its assets. Lackawanna County did not gain independent status until 1878. Under legislation allowing the issue to be voted by residents of the proposed territory, voters favored the new county by a proportion of 6 to 1, with Scranton residents providing the major support. The city was designated as the county seat when Lackawanna County was established in 1878, and a judicial district was authorized in 1879.
The city took its first step toward earning its reputation as the Electric City when electric lights were introduced in 1880 at Dickson Locomotive Works. Six years later, the nation's first streetcars powered exclusively by electricity began operating in the city. Rev. David Spencer, a local Baptist minister, later proclaimed Scranton as the Electric City.
