Autumn Road Trip Drive From Glasgow To Clydebank West Dunbartonshire Scotland
Tour Scotland Autumn travel video of a road trip drive, with Scottish music, from Glasgow, West along Dumbarton Road on ancestry visit to Clydebank, Scottish Gaelic; Bruach Chluaidh, on the north bank of the River Clyde in West Dunbartonshire. Clydebank was founded as a police burgh on 18 November 1886. A major employer in the town was its founding firm, the John Brown and Company shipyard, which built several well known ships, including the RMS Lusitania, Queen Mary, Queen Elizabeth, and Queen Elizabeth 2, as well as the warship HMS Hood. On 13 and 14 March 1941, Luftwaffe bombers attacked various targets in and around Clydebank. In what became known as the Clydebank Blitz, the town was seriously damaged as were the local shipyards, the Dalnottar Royal Navy oil depot and the Singer's Sewing Machine factory. Over the two days 528 civilians were killed and over 617 people were seriously injured. Clydebank borders Dumbarton and the villages of Old Kilpatrick, Bowling and Milton to the west, as well as the town of Bearsden in East Dunbartonshire, and the Yoker and Drumchapel areas of the adjacent City of Glasgow. Wet Wet Wet, pop band, was formed in Clydebank in 1982. About the poor career possibilities for youth in Clydebank in the 1980s, Graeme Clark, the bass player, said: It was either crime, the dole, football, or music, and we chose music.

To celebrate the UK launch of Christopher McDougall's new book: Natural Born Heroes: The Lost Secrets of Strength and Endurance.
With the help of some of the stars of the story VIVOBAREFOOT hosted the internationally bestselling author of the phenomenon which is Born to Run.
Christopher McDougall invited an exclusive line-up of his heroes and heroines for an evening of talks, demos and Q&As. Shirley Darlington, Daniel Edwardes and the Parkour Generations team will be performing a live parkour performance showing how Natural Born Heroes move, Tara Wood of Wildfitness will talk re-wilding and the ancient athleticism of Crete, the island at the heart of this World War II adventure tale.
The event was hosted by Founder and Managing Director of VIVOBAREFOOT, Galahad Clark. Chris has decided to once again partner with footwear manufacturers VIVOBAREFOOT. After striking a relationship many years ago over functional footwear, beer and stories about running: VIVOBAREFOOT owner Galahad Clark welcomed Chris back to these British shores.
About Christopher McDougall
Christopher McDougall is the author of Born to Run: The hidden tribe, the ultra-runners, and the Greatest Race the World Has Never Seen. He began his career as an overseas correspondent for the Associated Press, covering wars in Rwanda and Angola. He now lives and writes (and runs, swims, climbs, and bear-crawls) among the Amish farms around his home in rural Pennsylvania.
Natural Born Heroes Reviews
Chris Maume in the Independent:
He constructs a fascinating edifice of ideas around these two notions, and eventually finds a modern-day hero of his own. But the pleasures of the book are as much to do with the fascinating panoply of characters, war heroes all, British, Commonwealth and Cretan, whose exploits contributed so much to Hitler's downfall.

UK's first Muslim councillor, Glasgow's Bashir Maan, dies aged 93
Tributes have been paid to Bashir Maan - the first Muslim councillor in the UK - who has died at the age of 93.
Mr Maan was elected as a Glasgow councillor for Labour in 1970, having moved to the city from Pakistan in 1953.
He was a founding member of organisations including the Muslim Council of Scotland and was described as a trailblazer in the Scottish Muslim community.
A spokeswoman for the Muslim Council of Scotland said: Bashir Maan CBE was a founding member of the Muslim Council of Scotland and pioneer for the Muslim community.
He challenged racism, was a positive force for change in Scottish civic society and leaves a legacy that will benefit us for generations.
He will be truly missed but not forgotten.
Very sorry to hear this. Bashir Maan was a trailblazer and role model in the Scottish Muslim community. Above all he was a thoroughly decent man - although we were in different parties he was a source of good advice to me in my early days in politics. My condolences to his family
First Minister Nicola Sturgeon tweeted: Very sorry to hear this. Bashir Maan was a trailblazer and role model in the Scottish Muslim community.
Above all he was a thoroughly decent man - although we were in different parties he was a source of good advice to me in my early days in politics. My condolences to his family.
Justice Secretary Humza Yousaf said: Sad to hear about passing of Bashir Maan, thought to be first Muslim in UK to be elected to office when he became a Glasgow Councillor in 1970.
We didn't always agree but he encouraged me & other Scots-Asians to play their part in Scottish civic life. A sad loss.

Horse riding holiday in Ireland, courtesy of Globetrotting
Believe me when I say, our Castle & Estate ride in County Monaghan, Ireland is a fairytale wonderland for ANY equestrian enthusiast looking for a horse riding holiday in Ireland.
Where do I start?
How about here – the estate is home to 300 cross-country jumps (including PLENTY of water obstacles) to leap, ping or pop over on your Irish sport horse. Kilometres upon kilometres of bridle trails (yep, that’s what they call trails in Ireland!) that are sprawled across the 1000-acre estate flanked by ancient forests and open grazing pastures. The castle and surrounding estate is awash in history, and is one of the LAST great Irish estates still in the hands of its founding family.
Back to the equestrian wonderland, there is an indoor arena (let’s face it this is a MUST in Ireland) with show-jumping courses that will make your eyes water with excitement. For any globetrotter who has a fascination and desire to visit Ireland and ride their revered horses, than THIS ride is the perfect fit.
