PROJECT 01: PROPOSAL OF DESIGNING AN OPEN SPACE RIVERBANK AT CAMPUS B, UNGKU OMAR POLYTECHNIC, IPOH
AIM
• To promote sustainable development through environmental education through formal and informal education.
• To create awareness and recognize the importance of wildlife.
• To promote Ungku Omar Polytechnic as a sustainable institution, not only focusing on academic achievement, but giving a greater contribution towards the surrounding and community within it.
THE IMPORTANCE
• Maintaining balance of the ecosystem: Recycling and storage of nutrients, combating pollution, and stabilizing climate, protecting water resources, forming and protecting soil and maintaining eco balance.
• Provision of biological resources: Provision of herbs, food for the human population and animals, breeding stock and diversity of species, ecosystems and genes.
• Social benefits: Recreation, cultural value and education and research.
ZONE A ACADEMIC
As this zone comprises the academic block, the idea of this particular phase is to utilise the existing hardscapes such as gazebos, academic building and motorcycle parking and furnish it with new softscapes.
AIM
• To provide a conducive environment which supports the intellectual, physical, artistic and social development of students, thus improving the learning outcomes for all key learning areas.
• To provide a landscape setting which creates a ‘Sense of Place’, enhances the natural environment and instils a lifelong regard for nature.
• To create a mind accepting place for students to relax while waiting for their academic classes.
ZONE B ACADEMIC AND RESEARCH
Zone B proposes the herbal garden as to maintain the previous function of that particular land space as an herbal plantation to many species of plants such as lemongrass, chillies and much more.
AIM
• To encourage and promote polytechnic to introduce the home herbal garden concept to students
• To be a reference or directory of herb related landscapes especially for Architecture students
• To inculcate a sense of familiarity from childhood with surrounding biodiversity and its conservation, especially herbal plants
ZONE C INTERACTION
Zone C promotes interaction between nature and denizen of Ungku Omar Polytechnic as it proposes wood decking as an outdoor recreation with gazebos, seating area and colourful softscapes.
AIM
• As a space for outdoor activities and leisure
• To promote and enhance active outdoor lifestyles
• To foster a greater appreciation for the natural environment.
ZONE D PRESERVATION
Zone D proposes a butterfly farm with an objective to conserve the Yellow Birdwing in Penang by the reintroduction of this butterfly and planting of its host plant, the Aristolochia tagala.
AIM
• To promote nature awareness and advocating conservation as to educate people of the importance of conservation and sustainable living.
• To promotes involvement of students out of the academic courses
• To promote Ungku Omar as the preservation hub of nature, thus solidifying the good image of the institute nationally and internationally.

Top places to visit in Ipoh, Malaysia
Ipoh City, is malaysia third largest city in the country with a population of over 710,000 people and a gateway to the Cameron Highlands. Ipoh is the capital city of Perak state on the west coast of peninsular Malaysia.
There are 5 nicknames for ipoh: The Town Built on Tin and City of Millionaires referring to the vast fortunes made during the boom of the tin-mining industries. Affectionately called Paloh till today by the local Chinese, referring to the gigantic mining pumps used for early tin ore extraction. The Bougainvillea City referring to Bougainvillea as the symbol flower of the city. The Hill City referring to Ipoh being central and surrounded by hills. But now most the people called Paloh and The Hill City became a town name.
Now, ipoh cities was a famous foods counties. Folks from all over the country regularly flock to Ipoh to taste historical landmarks of ipoh old town white coffee, succulent pomelos, fluffy kaya puff, ipoh’s famous salted chicken, bean sprouts and chicken, hong kong dim sum, Lor Mai Kai, Taro Puff, Char Siew Bao, Egg Tarts, Fried Glutinous…and so on.
