Gettysburg City Tour | Alaska Haven Vlogs
While we usually film and share everything about life Alaska, we recently went on a journey outside our favorite state. Since Steve was invited to attend an Emergency Management training in Gettysburg, we decided to make it a family trip and learn first hand about history.
Today ,we explored the City of Gettysburg, learned about the history of the battles, visited the museum and National Cemetery. We also finalized a big surprise for the kids!
Thank you for being part of our journey.
Love,

In this video we drive through the FULL auto tour of the Gettysburg National Military Park.
The Gettysburg National Military Park protects and interprets the landscape of the 1863 Battle of Gettysburg during the American Civil War. Located in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, the park is managed by the National Park Service. The GNMP properties include most of the Gettysburg Battlefield, many of the battle's support areas during the battle (e.g., reserve, supply, & hospital locations), and several other non-battle areas associated with the battle's aftermath and commemoration, including the Gettysburg National Cemetery. Many of the park's 43,000 American Civil War artifacts are displayed in the Gettysburg Museum and Visitor Center.
The park has more wooded land than in 1863, and the National Park Service has an ongoing program to restore portions of the battlefield to their historical non-wooded conditions, as well as to replant historic orchards and woodlots that are now missing. In addition, the NPS is restoring native plants to meadows and edges of roads, to encourage habitat as well as provide for historic landscape. There are also considerably more roads and facilities for the benefit of tourists visiting the battlefield park.

The Gettysburg Story - Behind the Scenes Featurette
Coming to Public Television in November to commemorate the 150th Anniversary of The Gettysburg Address on November 19, 2013. Experience The Gettysburg Story as you have never seen it before! This groundbreaking documentary tells the history of the greatest battle fought on American soil primarily using stunning time lapse cinematography and high definition views of the actual battlefield as recorded by radio controlled helicopter cameras.
The program begins in June 1863 with the start of the Gettysburg campaign in Virginia and follows the route of the Confederate and Union armies as they move north along the Blue Ridge mountains and across the Mason-Dixon line to meet on the rolling ground surrounding the small Pennsylvania town.
The Gettysburg Story is narrated by acclaimed actor Stephen Lang (Avatar, Tombstone, Gettysburg) and was produced with the cooperation of the 6,000 acre Gettysburg National Military Park. Dynamic, evocative, breathtaking aerial and time lapse imagery highlight legendary places of the battlefield -- Little Round Top, Devils Den, The Railroad Cut, Cemetery Ridge, the fields of Pickett's Charge -- and visually tell the epic Gettysburg Story like no other film before.
Civil War era music reinterpreted with 21st century technology along with a dramatic and evocative sound mix makes the vicious battle come to life. GPS linked digital animations dynamically and efficiently explain troop movements and military strategies employed in the battle. The history and the land literally come alive in this unique visual and aural interpretation.

In 1915, the National Park Commission tested the battlefield guides and, due to the limited knowledge (particularly of the most experienced, e.g., only 1 in 8 could name the 7 avenues), established a school for licensing tour guides to charge fees.

Gettysburg For Kids - Travels With Phil
This video is called Gettysburg For Kids. It shows some of the activities children can do at Gettysburg National Military Park. The Junior Ranger and Join The Army programs will help keep your children interested and occupied while you visit this Civil War battlefield. Many parent want their children to learn something while visiting a historic place. Both of these programs can be fun and educational. Gettysburg National Military Park | Battlefield Tour | WanderLost Adventures
The first time we went to Gettysburg National Military Park, we bought a CD with an audio driving tour. We couldn't listen to it then because we didn't have a CD player in our car. We've carried the disc around with us for quite a few years, and when we knew we would be traveling back in the area, with a CD player in our van, we grabbed it off the shelf and headed out.

Pole Steeple Hike & Gettysburg National Military Park
In this episode we accomplish the Pole Steeple Hike at Pine Grove Furnace State Park and then we explore Gettysburg National Military Park. This is our first time in the Gettysburg area, and it definitely exceeded our expectations. This area of Pennsylvania is so mountainous and contains so much history. We must admit, we are much more interested in history as adults than when we were kids in school. Being able to travel to places like this is a blessing.

The town of Gettysburg in Pennsylvania is one of the most haunted locations in the United States. Over three days, ending on July 3 1863, intense fighting at a key point in the American Civil War cost the lives of more than 7,800 courageous Union and Confederate soldiers. Tens of thousands more were injured and maimed. It’s little surprise then that a multitude of paranormal experiences have been reported at the Gettysburg National Military Park. Sightseers and psychic investigators have photographed strange images, recorded eerie phenomena and filmed mystifying ghost videos there. Here are six of the most haunted places in Gettysburg.
