From Mountains to Prairies 2016 (Pt. 4) - My Hotel in Quincy, Washington

July 2, 2016 - All the hotels in Leavenworth and Wenatchee were full, so I had to drive a little deeper into the arid Columbia Basin to find lodging for the night. This brought me to the Knights Inn at the western edge of Quincy, Washington, a town of 6,750 people.

It was a gorgeous night in the middle of nowhere. Besides the larger city of Wenatchee 30 minutes away, Quincy is close-ish to the city of George and the Gorge Amphitheatre.

Road Trip to see Rush at the Gorge - time lapse - part 3 of 14

This is the third video in a series showing a trip a friend and I made to see Rush at the Gorge amphitheater near Quincy, Washington performing the last concert on their Time Machine Tour.

This video starts at the intersection of Highway 22 and Highway 3. We headed East on Highway 3 to catch the highway that would take us to Waterton National Park to take a quick break before crossing the border into the United States. The goal for that day was to stay in Glacier National Park, Montana.

Together Waterton and Glacier National Parks are an international peace park and share some of the same unique geology and wildlife. The mountains of these parks seem to be set upon the prairies without any foothills leading up to them. In fact, they were formed by the Lewis thrust which pushed very old rock over top of much younger rock. The resulting mountains have a unique look about them with unusual green and red formations in them, and look quite striking rising right out of the prairies.



The music used in this video is Chitlins Con Carne by Stevie Ray Vaughan, Key To the Highway by Big Bill Broonzy and Embryonic Journey by Jefferson Airplane.
