Sophia was a missionary kid who moved to the United States with her family to help with a church plant. In college, she became disillusioned and tried—sometimes literally—to run from God. But she couldn’t escape the Every Nation Campus students who kept inviting her to an ENC Conference. She finally went to the conference, gave her life back to Christ, and accepted her call to campus ministry.
God has given a unique opportunity to Sophia and her campus team in Orlando, Florida. While Sophia’s focus goes to the University of Central Florida, she actually gets a chance to disciple those students long before, in high school. The Brushy Mountain Penitentiary, where they used to house some of the worst of the worst criminals, is located on the eastern side of Frozen Head State Park in the Tennessee mountains. Although escape attempts were rare, the prison’s ideal location reduced the chances of prisoners safely making it back to civilization. Beyond being a maximum security prison, if an inmate did happen to evade the guards and get over the two exterior walls of the penitentiary, the Tennessee mountains might as well have been a gigantic third wall.
