The Great Promenade show is a series of outdoor art installations set on the 2km sea defenses along Blackpool's south shore. The vision for the art work is that of an outdoor gallery or a visual variety show, a programme of 'acts' each one reflecting an aspect of Blackpool's diverse character.
Made for a nice walk but the best part for me living in Blackpool is the promenade sunsets on a clear day..

I made a few short videos of the beach a few days ago... I thought I got some really cool video footage and pictures but sadly when I got home most of what I filmed was not on my memory card.. I'm not sure what happened, maybe the battery? (although the little recording light was on the whole time so I'm not sure) and there was plenty of room on the memory card.
So I only ended up with enough stuff for one short video... so here it is..

People in the south of England and Wales have already been sunbathing this year, while the temparature in Blackpool has dropped from a peak of 14c last week to 5 degrees centigrade today. The Icelandic volcano continues to send atmospheric ash our way, driven by winds that I have tried to capture in this film.
The actual effect of the invisible airborne ash is that it is cold by day as it blocks out the sun's heat, yet it is warm at night as it acts like an insulator. It is very similar to heavy cloud cover though as the video shows, there is very little cloud in the sky and it is a bright, sunny day.
