Singapore - Helix Bridge HD (2015)
The Helix Bridge, previously known as the Double Helix Bridge, is a pedestrian bridge linking Marina Centre with Marina South in the Marina Bay area in Singapore. It was officially opened on 24 April 2010 at 9 pm, however only half was opened due to ongoing construction at the Marina Bay Sands. It is located beside the Benjamin Sheares Bridge and is accompanied by a vehicular bridge, known as the Bayfront Bridge. The entire bridge was opened on 18 July 2010 to complete the entire walkway around Marina Bay.

This is the famous Helix Bridge at Marina Bay Sands, Singapore.
It is a footbridge that links Marina Centre with Marina South in the Marina Bay area in Singapore.
Its curved design was inspired by the structure of a DNA. The footbridge has 4 viewing platforms that offer scenic views of the Singapore City Skyline.
The Helix Bridge also lights up at night also, giving it a beautiful illumination at night.

Singapore Night Walk on the Helix Bridge to Marina Bay Sands
The Helix Bridge, officially The Helix, is a pedestrian bridge linking Marina Centre with Marina South in the Marina Bay area in Singapore. It is located beside the Benjamin Sheares Bridge and is accompanied by a vehicular bridge, known as the Bayfront Bridge. The entire bridge was opened on 18 July 2010 to complete the entire walkway around Marina Bay.
Canopies (made of fritted-glass and perforated steel mesh) are incorporated along parts of the inner spiral to provide shade for pedestrians. The bridge has four viewing platforms sited at strategic locations which provide stunning views of the Singapore skyline and events taking place within Marina Bay. At night, the bridge is illuminated by a series of lights that highlight the double-helix structure, thereby creating a special visual experience for the visitors.
Pairs of coloured letters c and g, as well as a and t on the bridge which are lit up at night in red and green represent cytosine, guanine, adenine and thymine, the four bases of DNA. The intentional left handed DNA-like design, which is the opposite of normal DNA on earth, earned it a place in The Left Handed DNA Hall of Fame in 2010.
The Land Transport Authority claimed it is a world first in architectural and engineering bridge design. It won the 'World's Best Transport Building' award at the World Architecture Festival Awards in the same year. It has also been recognised by the Building and Construction Authority (BCA) at the BCA Design and Engineering Safety Excellence Awards in 2011.

The Helix Bridge
Inspired by the structure of human DNA, The Helix Bridge is one of Singapore’s most visually striking landmarks. Opened in 2010, it is a pedestrian only bridge linking the Marina Centre with Marina South in the Bay area. Designed and engineered by a team of architects from both Australia and Singapore. It has four strategically located viewing platforms, giving you the best views of the city skyline and Marina Bay, and the most impressive selfie-moment backdrop. Cleverly designed to shade visitors from the sun and provide shelter from the rain, it’s a mindful structure taking into consideration Singapore’s tropical climate.
The letters
At night, the inner helix uses white light to illuminate a path for pedestrians walking The Helix Bridge, while two pairs of coloured letters, C & G and A & T become the focal point. Highlighted in red and green these letters represent the four bases of DNA: Cytosine, Guanine, Adenine and Thymine.
The awards
The Helix Bridge’s architectural wonder has won this iconic landmark many awards to date. The Land Transport Authority claim its unique concept is a world first in architectural and engineering bridge design. Add to this the World’s Best Transport Building award at the World Architecture Festival Awards, and winning the Engineering Safety Excellence Awards in 2011, it sure is an internationally recognised masterpiece.

- The design of The Helix Bridge resembles the international left handed DNA, which is the opposite of normal DNA
- The Helix Bridge has earned its place in The Left Handed DNA Hall of Fame in 2010
- If the steel of the helix structure were stretched end to end, it would measure 2.25km in length
- The helix structure actually only ever touches at one point under the bridge deck

Helix Bridge Singapore (4K)
The Helix Bridge in Singapore was a very interesting bridge shaped like the twisted double-helix strands of DNA. A nice stroll across and we went from the Marina Bay Sands area to the festive Singapore Marina. There were platforms that extended out for people to take in the fantastic views of the city's skyline. At night, the Helix Bridge glows red as you can see in the video.

This is what Singapore city looks like at night. I started this night at The Shoppes at Marina Bay Sands to The Helix Bridge in Singapore.
Singapore city looks amazing at night. I didn't realize how beautiful it looked. The city skyline was lite up with the city buildings and you can see it all from The Shoppes at Marina Bay Sands.
I don't remember Singapore looking this great at night, and it was so good to see so many people out and about, just chilling by the waterside.
I definitely enjoyed this walk from The Shoppes at Marina Bay Sands to The Helix bridge and I hope you all did also.
