DAYTON -- Saturday was National Aviation Day so people at the U.S. Air Force Museum were celebrating.Today's free event featured many aviation achievements including those of the Wright brothers.This year, National Aviation Day was held in conjunction with the monthly family day hosted by the museum.Parents and children had a chance to explore a number of hands on exhibits that explore flight-related science.

I moved to Los Angeles shortly after graduating college, and only after doing so was I able to see Dayton in a new perspective. I used this piece as an opportunity to further explore the city as well as become more familiar with timelapse and motion control.
Roughly 10,000 stills were taken between June and September 2014 to create this piece.

Trolleybuses in Dayton, Ohio 2018
Dayton, Ohio is one of five cities in the United States to have a trolleybus (trackless trolley) system still in operation. The city has a population of 140,000, making it the smallest city in North America with a trolleybus system.

In May 2013, RTA placed an order with Vossloh Kiepe for four prototype low-floor, dual-mode buses, the first of which (No. 1401) arrived on September 29, 2014, and the other three between November 2014 and January 2015. Gillig provided the bus bodies, using its BRT model, into which the Vossloh Kiepe propulsion equipment was installed. All four are capable of operating as trolley buses, but for operation away from the trolley wires, two use a diesel-powered generator to power the traction motors (similar to a hybrid bus) and two use batteries only. Vossloh Kiepe referred to the technology as NexGen, for Next Generation, a branding that RTA has also used when referring to the new vehicles. ~Wikipedia

Unfortunately only the NextGen were operating as the other trolley routes seemed to have construction or other issues; thereby reducing the amount of trolleybuses running on this day of filming to (two or three?) nextgen. At first it seemed that they were not running trolleybuses at all.

The National Museum of the Marine Corps is the new historical museum of the United States Marine Corps.
It is located in Quantico, Virginia and is free to the public. It is open from 9 AM to 5 PM every day except Christmas Day.
The museum had its grand opening on November 10, 2006 and is now the number one tourist attraction in Virginia Drawing over 500,000 people annually.
On the day it was opened, President Bush came to give a dedication and to also present the family of fallen Marine Jason Dunham the Medal of Honor.

The National Museum of the United States Air Force (formerly the United States Air Force Museum) is the official museum of the United States Air Force located at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base 6 miles (9.7 km) northeast of Dayton, Ohio. The museum draws over 1.3 million visitors each year making it one of the most frequently visited tourist attractions in Ohio.
