Clinton, New Jersey scenic bridge
The bridge between two old mills in Clinton is one of New Jersey's most-photographed spots. On the west side is the Red Mill Museum of rustic items, and on the east side, the Hunterdon County Art Museum. The small town of Clinton has shops and restaurants to attract visitors. The Clean Plate restaurant has good food at reasonable prices and most tables offer a view of the dam between the two mills.
Driving from Clinton (New Jersey) to Bangor (Pennsylvania) via NJ-31 N
Clinton is a town in Hunterdon County, New Jersey, United States, located on the South Branch of the Raritan River. Despite its relatively small population, Clinton is the predominant control city for Interstate 78 heading west from Newark. The town is perhaps best known for its two mills which sit on opposite banks of the South Branch Raritan River. The Red Mill, with its historic village, dates back to 1810 with the development of a mill for wool processing. Across the river sits the Stone Mill, home of the Hunterdon Art Museum for Contemporary Craft and Design, located in a former gristmill that had been reconstructed in 1836 and operated continuously until 1936. In 1952, a group of local residents conceived of a plan to convert the historic building into an art museum, which is still in operation today.
Bangor is a borough located in Northampton County, Pennsylvania, 32 miles (51 km) north of Allentown, in the Lehigh Valley region of Pennsylvania, United States. The borough was settled about 1760 and first incorporated in 1875. The founder and first Chief Burgess of Bangor was Robert M. Jones, an emigrant from Bangor, Wales. He was the prime mover in the establishment of the slate industry in Northampton County. Slate quarries pepper the area, but only a few are still functioning. A life-sized statue of him, dedicated on September 24, 1914, remains in the town center. Indeed, if one visits Bangor, Wales it is clearly visible that the Welsh heritage made its way to Bangor, Pennsylvania, whose stone walls, rectangular gardens, and lovely flowers and greenery mirror those of its Welsh namesake. Around Bangor one can also see piles of slate residue and shale reminiscent of the area around Bethesda, Wales.

Ocean painting demonstration by Anju Saran at Warren County Arts (WCARTS), Oxford, NJ
Warren County ARTS May Program on May 11th will be a demonstration by Anju Saran. 7-9pm Oxford Municipal Bldg, Oxford NJ. The meeting is open to the public. Free to WCARTS members, and a suggested $2 donation from visitors.
Synopsis:
Anju will demonstrate a seascape with waves from a photograph of her own, explaining what art materials will be used and how she starts a painting focusing on the ‘values’ not so much into details or colors. It is kind of block-ins and gradients. In the beginning Anju will use a larger brush to create the atmosphere, feel of the subject and not so much to define the shape. After the block-ins the ‘relative values’ can be applied. At this stage, more details can be added into the painting. The middle stage of the painting will look more like impressionistic. As the foreground and background of the painting gets clearly defined, Anju will slowly move to lighter shades. In a nutshell, she will start the painting mostly with darker values and move to a mid-range and later add relative values and lighter shades. Other applications could be splattering, glazing, moving brush strokes loosely, add texture and knife strokes. As the painting moves to an advanced stage Anju will focus on finer details and can use liner or thin brush to add more details. Note that it’s not possible to complete the entire painting in a 2 hour session but she will try to show the techniques she uses while painting.

Clinton, New Jersey Cherry Blossom Time 1 of 3 April 19, 2010 Taken with a MUVi Atom that was purchased at BeachCamera.com. The whole video is 28 minutes and YouTube only allows 10 minutes. So I used Windows Movie Maker to split it into 3 parts. This changed the AVI file format to WMV. Unfortunately this also decreased the quality of the video. Doing this also chopped off the Clinton House at the beginning of the video.

Stone Manor House in Delaware Twp, Hunterdon County NJ
Call Adam Shapiro at 610-420-0070. Delaware Township is full of 18th century history, and this Sergeantsville landmark retains many original features that bear witness to its colonial heritage. Our stone manor house originally belonged to the Carrell family, early settlers who came to Hunterdon from Bucks County around 1809, bought a large tract of land and built their home just down the road from Headquarters Mill. Lush plantings adorn a perfectly symmetrical façade, enhanced by dentil moldings and a distinctive arched door surround. Tall and elegant inside and out, this home delivers an ambiance of simple refinement. The living room and dining room seem untouched, the ceilings are high, windowsills deep, and wide plank floors gleam with warmth. A four-season sunroom invites you to sit back and relax, and sliding doors open to a bluestone patio with a stone grill. Gentle fields surrounding the large red bank barn could be used for horses, and a 3-car 2-story garage has an office upstairs. 90 minutes from New York.
