John Deere Tractor and Farm Equipment Tour!
This John Deere tractor and farm equipment tour is hosted by cousins Eric and Jeff Sligar with a special guest appearance by Uncle Jim.
On Rice Farming TV we have seen a lot of tractors and none of them were John Deeres. So I thought we'd pay the other Sligar rice farming operation and check out all their green tractors.
We have a little time to kill before the ground work starts here in the rice fields so I hope you enjoy this tractor video!

How to Evict a Tenant
Watch more All about Apartment Rentals videos:
Take pains to remove a renter from your property legally, or you could find yourself on the wrong side of the law.
Step 1: Check your local laws
Contact your county clerk's office to check the laws governing eviction proceedings in your jurisdiction.
Tip
If you are managing government-subsidized housing, follow the eviction rules established by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.
Step 2: Know your rights
Know the valid reasons for evicting a tenant, which include nonpayment of rent, a violation of their lease, and creating a health or safety problem. Landlords do not need a reason to evict month-to-month tenants, and they can choose not to renew a tenant's lease without giving a reason.
Step 3: Don't evict on your own
Don't attempt to evict your tenant by force, or try to get them to leave by cutting off their heat or water, changing their locks, or tossing their possessions. These methods are all illegal.
Step 4: Have a paper trail
Have your documentation in order, including a copy of the lease, written notices you have sent to the tenant concerning any problems, and any other proof of your claim, like bounced rent checks or photos of property damage.
Step 5: Give them fair notice
Let the tenant know in writing that you are planning to evict them if they don't pay their rent or correct a violation by a certain date. How much time you must give them varies from state to state.
Tip
If you are evicting a month-to-month tenant without cause, make sure you are giving the advance notice required by your state, which can be anywhere from 20 to 90 days.
Step 6: Go to court
If the tenant hasn't addressed the problem within the time frame cited, file an eviction notice with the local court. If the tenant doesn't respond within the time defined by the court, you win by default. If the tenant challenges the eviction, the case may go to a hearing.
Step 7: Post a notice
If you win the case, a representative of the court – like a sheriff, marshal, or constable – will post a notice on the tenant's door giving them a move-out date, at which time the tenant and their possessions will be forcibly removed from the premises by the court representative if they haven't vacated on their own.
Step 8: Cover their cost
If the tenant wins, you will have to let them stay and pay their costs of fighting the eviction, in most cases. So be sure to follow the letter of the law before starting proceedings!
Did You Know?
The number of cases landlords filed in New York City for back rent rose 19 percent in the first two months of 2009.

Legal Eats: Food and the Culture of the U.S. Supreme Court
Throughout American history, the Justices of the nation’s highest court have come together to deliberate legal matters… but they have also found time to break bread. Since the early 19th century when they took all their meals together while living in a boarding house, the Justices have continued to reinforce cordiality and cooperation through shared food traditions, such as eating lunch together on Court and Conference days.
Join U.S. Supreme Court Associate Justices Ruth Bader Ginsburg and Sonia Sotomayor and the Curator of the Supreme Court, Catherine E. Fitts, in a conversation moderated by Clare Cushman, Director of Publications of the Supreme Court Historical Society, as they explore the unique food traditions of the Supreme Court.

Visionary Spiritual Leon Kennedy: Black American Folk artist
Visionary Spiritual Leon Kennedy: Black American Folk artist.
African-American spiritual visionary Leon Kennedy (b. 1945, Houston, Texas) uses mixed media on found objects to paint ecstatic visions, memory paintings, and urban life portraits. Kennedy is featured on several pages of Rosnak's Contemporary American Folk Art (Abbeville, 1996), and in Betty-Carol Sellen's important survey, Self Taught, Outsider, and Folk Art (McFarland & Company, 1999).
In 1997, the Smithsonian Institution purchased 200 significant works from the renowned Rosenak collection for an undisclosed sum estimated to be near $2M. This acquisition included a bed-sheet by Kennedy. The 1997 Folk Art Messenger, Vol. 10, No.3, reported that the acquisition makes the Smithsonian American Art Museum the world's preeminent repository for American self-taught art.
It is our desire to see them as part of the history of 20th-century American art, said Chuck Rosenak.
Mentioning Kennedy, the article notes these works were the first American collection exhibited at the Collection de l'Art Brut, Switzerland, which testifies to its quality and uniqueness. The Leon Kennedy masterwork now resides at the Smithsonian American Art Museum, while photos of Kennedy and other materials of Kennedy's are available for study at the National Archives in Washington, D.C.

CLIP DESCRIPTION:
The team recommits to improving their grades while Timo (Rick Gonzalez) eloquently expresses his thanks to Coach Carter (Samuel L. Jackson).
FILM DESCRIPTION:
The true-life story of a coach who tries to teach his players that there's more to life than basketball is brought to the screen in this sports drama. Ken Carter (Samuel L. Jackson) was once a star player on the Richmond High School basketball team in Richmond, CA, and years later, after establishing himself in publishing and marketing, he returns to the school and to the team as the new basketball coach. Carter quickly sees that his work is cut out for him -- the team is having an awful season, and their fights off the court are more decisive than their play on the court. While Carter wants to make the Richmond cagers into a winning team, he also wants a lot more -- to teach the boys to respect themselves and one another, and that they must excel in the classroom as well as in the gymnasium. Under Carter's guidance, the team turns their losing season around, with the state title a genuine possibility. However, when Carter learns that a number of his players have let their grade point averages slip below 2.3, as mandated in a contract he entered into with the students, he decides to lock the team out of the gym and send them into study hall until their marks improve. Carter's plan quickly becomes a subject of controversy among parents and team boosters, and their objections are soon picked up by the local news media, many of whom are not sympathetic to Carter's belief that his players must have goals beyond college ball or the NBA. Coach Carter also features Rob Brown and Rick Gonzalez as members of the team, and R&B diva Ashanti in her film debut as the girlfriend of one of Carter's players.

Richard Rothstein: “The Color of Law
Richard Rothstein of the Economic Policy Institute will give a lecture on his recent book, The Color of Law: A Forgotten History of How Our Government Segregated America. The book recovers a forgotten history of how federal, state, and local policy explicitly segregated metropolitan areas nationwide, creating racially homogenous neighborhoods in patterns that violate the Constitution and require remediation.
Introductions by Robert Self, Mary Ann Lippitt Professor of American History, Chair of History, Brown University.
For more information:
10. The Election of 1860 and the Secession Crisis
The Civil War and Reconstruction (HIST 119)
This lecture picks off where the previous one left off, with a discussion of the legacies of John Brown. The most important thing about John Brown's raid, Professor Blight argues, was not the event itself, but the way Americans engaged with it after the fact. Next, Professor Blight discusses the election of 1860, a four-way battle won by the Republican candidate, Abraham Lincoln. In the wake of Lincoln's election, the seven states of the deep South, led by South Carolina, seceded. The lecture closes with an analysis of some of the rationales underlying southern secession.
