SHARING COMMON GROUND | The Lands At Hillside Farms
The Lands at Hillside Farms is a 19th Century, 412-acre, nonprofit educational dairy farm that each year welcomes thousands of regional students of all ages and means. Here, any one of us can be a farmer, a historian, a scientist -- but far more importantly, we can get in touch with values too many of us have forgotten in a busy world.
Volunteers and donors from the public, business, foundations and government have worked very hard and rather quietly for years to make this vision come true. There are precious few places in Pennsylvania — even America — quite like The Lands at Hillside Farms.
This is a first-hand, hands-on experience only the children of agriculture can have today.
At The Lands, visitors can see, touch, taste, smell and learn about nutrition, archaeology, ecology, animal husbandry and land conservation. We teach the importance of respecting the delicate balance among nature, the environment and man.
Moreover, we believe a healthy mind and body are interconnected and we show by our example how to live a balanced life. We like to think of The Lands as a 412-Acre Classroom Without Walls.

PA Preserves 4000th Farm.wmv
June 10, 2010 Lebanon PA: For preservation of the 4,000th farm, PA Department of Agriculture Secretary Russell Redding came to Lebanon County on the Charles and Susan Zimmerman Farm in Myerstown.
After a State Farm Preservation Board meeting, a ceremony took place behind an historic bank barn. Former Secretary Boyd Wolf, who preserved the first farm in Lancaster, was also on hand.
Lancaster and Berks Counties are the State's two largest preservation counties. Even though they have a smaller land mass, Lebanon County is in the top group too.
Of note, Commissioner Jo Ellen Litz sits on the PA farm preservation board, and Commissioner Bill Carpenter has been on the board during the preservation of every farm in Lebanon County. Also on hand was former Commissioner Rose Swanger who is now a State House Representative. Along with Commissioners Phil Feather, Ed Arnold, and Larry Stohler, Lebanon County has preserved over 15,000 acres of farmland.
From Berks County, former Representative Sheila Miller, Bill Evans for Senator O'Pake, Ken Grimes, and Larry Kehl also sit on the PA Farm Preservation Board. Kristin Crawford is Senator Brubaker's representative for Lancaster County.
No food, no farms is a popular slogan, but preserving our farms is so much more. It's also preserving our heritage, history, architecture, scenic beauty, ground to recharge water, culture, way of life, quality of life, and families working together.

In fact, you might think that anyone would jump at the chance to buy this amazing Richmond mansion. However, when you walk through the front door of this place, you will understand why people are running away.
Connecticut Creepy House – There is something weird about this place, and it’s not because its full of mannequins or even ghosts. No, it’s not in a terrible location, and it doesn’t have some spooky history, and it’s not in bad condition.

As a magnificent five-bedroom Victorian mansion in two acres of land, you would expect this family home to be snapped up for a premium as soon as it went on the market.
7. Conrad Aiken House, Savannah, Georgia - Conrad Aiken was a famous American poet and man of letters. He was also a child witness to the murder-suicide of his parents – in this house.
