Clashes broke out between supporters of the 'left-wing' coalition Antarsya and riot police outside the offices of the European Union (EU) in Athens, Thursday. An anxious wait in Athens as bailout talks loom in Brussels
With no deal in sight in Brussels, the deadlock is becoming increasingly painful for Greeks waiting for an end to the bailout saga.
Even tourists are taking precautions with their spending money.
One visitor from Belgium said, We took a bit more euros than normally, because a lot of Greeks withdrew massively their euros. So we wanted to avoid running out of money.
I am very anxious because after so many years of trying hard, we are worried that everything will collapse, explained Dimit…

Greece: Varoufakis's MeRA25 party holds Athens rally ahead of elections

Former Greek Finance Minister Yanis Varoufakis held an election campaign rally for his newly founded European Realistic Disobedience Front [MeRA25] party, in Athens on Saturday, on the eve of the general elections.
MeRA25 is our voice which must enter the Greek parliament and be heard all over Europe and all over the world, said Varoufakis, during his speech on stage.
Wolfgang Schauble said congratulations to Tsipras because the government was the most efficient into passing the 'YES' to all the austerity cuts. Syriza colleagues did not understand, that this was not a compliment. It was the kiss of death, he added.
MeRA25, which narrowly missed out on a seat in the European Parliament when it won 2.99 percent of the vote in May's elections, is also the first Greek party to have a transgender parliamentary candidate.
According to polls, Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras and his SYRIZA party look set to be removed from power by the centre-right New Democracy (ND) party led by Kyriakos Mitsotakis.

Greece: Pro-EU protesters rally in Athens as fresh bailout talks loom
Thousands of pro-European Union (EU) protesters rallied outside the Hellenic Parliament in Athens on Thursday night. Protesters waved Greek and EU flags, and chanted pro-democracy slogans. The gathering is the first anti-government protest since Sunday's bailout referendum in which a majority (around 61 percent) of Greeks decided to reject the proposals of the country's creditors.

Greece: Trade unionists blockade Finance Ministry as bailout talks loom
Members of the trade union group the All-Workers Militant Front (PAME) occupied the Greek Finance Ministry in Athens, Thursday, protesting the government’s potential deal with the country’s creditors over Greece’s debt crisis.
Up to 200 protesters occupied the building, with some climbing to its upper floors to hang a huge anti-government banner depicting Greece’s last three prime ministers. Below the prime ministers a slogan read: “we have bled enough, we have paid enough. Take matters into your own hands Greek people! Block the new measure and the long-term bailout agreements.”

Women & The Family - Ancient Greek Society 08
Ancient Greek women had very different outcomes in life depending on where they were born, and the class they were born into.
Some could be isolated, valued only for their ability to bear children. Some could be prostititutes ...and others could be empowered, tough, capable women who kept society together.
The eighth in a flipped classroom series on Ancient Greek Society.

Uncertainty looms for families in Greece
looks like an idyllic picture of family life, but despite the sunshine and clear blue skies in the Athens suburbs, there is real hardship here. Yiannis Pantzos and his wife Nadia have both lost their jobs. They are young enough to still have big commitments - a house and small children.

Greek debt line: Banks close, ATM lines mount & IMF payment looms
The chief of the European Commission Jean-Claude Juncker has made a last-ditch effort to keep Greece from leaving the Euro. He said that the creditors' terms are not - quote - stupid austerity and that the Greek people should not commit suicide out of fear of death in the upcoming referendum on those terms, on July 5th. Mr. Juncker also repeatedly pointed out that he's not the one to blame for putting the country on the brink of financial ruin and now let's head to Athens, where the people are anxiously following the news from Brussels. RT's Peter Oliver and Harry Fear have more on the ongoing Greek crisis.
