Old Haunted Kirkbride Insane Asylum - West Virginia
Urban Exploration : Abandoned Hospital CLICK SHOW MORE TO READ HISTORY AND DISCLAIMER
The Weston State Hospital also known as the Trans-Allegheny Lunatic Asylum. Opened in 1864. This Kirkbride psychiatric hospital is the largest hand cut stone masonry building in North America, second largest in the world. This building was part of the Kirkbride Plan which was designed by Thomas Kirkbride. The Kirkbride Plan was designed for Moral Treatment with long wings staggered from each other to provide plenty of sunlight and fresh air. All kirkbride architecture represented a Victorian style era with large tall entrances. In the 1900s, the krikbride plan of moral treatment became less used and it buildings were becoming expensive to maintain. A lot of them were left abandoned, most torn down but a lot still stand today. This Kirkbride was designed to hold 250 patients but by 1950, it had 2,600. It closed in 1994 b/c of changes in the treatment of mental illnesses and the building was falling apart. During the 19th century, the humans who were said to have mental illnesses would end up in these asylums. They were brought in by confinement cribs and had many treatments practice on them which were said to help release there poison. These treatments were known as shock therapy (patients were given insulin in a large dose that would put them in a coma for an hour. This treatment would be repeated many time sometime killing the individual since no guidelines were set on how much of a dose could be given), hydrotherapy (patients were placed in a tub suspended on a hammock and a sheet was cut out for their head to immobilize them and to prevent them from drowning), Bloodletting (It was said that the mentally insane has poisonousness blood and by removing it, they would be a normal human again. This was done by either leaches or incision to try and drain the blood. This would often leave patients exhausted and anemic. Sometimes transfusions were also attempted with some being animal blood.), and the most controversial method known as Lobotomy (This was performed on over 25,000 in the united states in by the mid 50s by severing the connections in the frontal love of the brain thus rending them docile). During the years of its abandonment, copper thieves went through and removed a lot of the wiring in the building. There was also a case were off duty police officers used the building for paint ball games which they were all caught and believed to be released from their duty. A preservation group bought the property for around 1.5 million dollars and today it uses public tours to try and make revenue to keep it history alive. Check out the website for find out more and get yourself in to tour this great place.

10 Facts Movie Theaters Don't Want You to Know
We all love movie theaters for the special feeling they give with fantastic special effects, complete sound immersion and the taste of popcorn. Would you still love them just as much if you found out their secrets movie theater owners don’t want you to know? We’re going to unveil 10 movie theater secrets.
In cinemas, many people can’t always keep their feelings to themselves and that’s normal. For example, a movie about cannibals called Raw appeared to be too hard to watch for a couple of visitors at The Toronto International Film Festival in 2016. The people fainted and one of them hit his head badly during the fall.
Digital devices can do everything on their own, and there are more automatic processes at a cinema than there were during the previous century.
Keep it in mind that in case there are some problems with a projector (the image is blurred, not centered, etc.), you’ll have to stand up and go notify a staff member in the lobby.
20% of the population, including Johnny Depp himself, simply can’t perceive those three dimensions. Harvard Medical School neurobiology professor Dr. Margaret S. Livingstone explains it could be due to stereo-blindness when eyes can’t see in 3D because of the way they are aligned.
If you love cleanliness that much, try to visit the cinema in the morning and avoid going there on Friday and Saturday nights when a lot of other people go out to the movies.

SUMMARY
-Theaters have to pay a lot to film studios in the first two months of distribution so they have to make their money out of concession.
-The cinema staff members who manage to prevent movie theft get a $500 prize.
-The younger generations buy a ticket when two movies start simultaneously, and one of them is not R-rated.
-A movie about cannibals called Raw appeared to be too hard to watch for a couple of visitors at The Toronto International Film Festival in 2016. The people fainted and one of them hit his head badly during the fall.
-One couple stuffed a truckload of food into an infant’s car seat and went to watch a movie. A girl from put some pasta into zip-lock bags and brought them into the cinema with her.
-3D glasses give you an illusion of being inside a movie and it drives your visual analyzer crazy.
-Even though a movie projector has to be programmed during the day, there’s nobody sitting in the booth when you watch a movie.
-A short break between two movies is not enough time for a cinema staff to thoroughly clean up a theater.
-Someone who loves to fight will always find a reason to do so. It could be that someone took someone else’s parking place, they talked on the phone during the movie, or someone is chomping too loudly.
-Thanks to security cameras, movie theater staff can spot and kick out couples that go too far on their “loveseats”.

CLIP DESCRIPTION:
Matilda (Mara Wilson) watches as Trunchbull (Pam Ferris) publically humiliates Bruce Bogtrotter (Jimmy Karz) in front of the entire school by forcing him to eat an entire gigantic chocolate cake.
FILM DESCRIPTION:
Based on the book Matilda, by British children's author Roald Dahl, this film moves the setting from the U.K. to the U.S.; otherwise it follows the original closely. Matilda Wormwood (Mara Wilson) is an extremely curious and intelligent little girl who is very different from her low-brow, mainstream parents (Danny DeVito and real-life wife Rhea Perlman), who quite cruelly ignore her. As she grows older, she begins to discover that she has telekinetic powers. Not until a teacher shows her kindness for the first time does she realize that she can use those powers to do something about her sufferings and help her friends as well. Villains from the awful Miss Trunchbull (Pam Ferris), headmistress of her miserable school Crunchem Hall, to her parents and older brother begin to feel her ire. Look for Paul Reubens (aka Pee Wee Herman) in a small part as an FBI agent investigating Matilda's shady father.

Tiny House Designed To Be Elderly / Disability / Mobility Friendly
Growing older is a gift. Unfortunately that gift also comes with it’s own burdens, often meaning a lack of mobility and thus a loss of independence. This spectacular tiny house design has helped to give mobility and independence back to one very special lady though, through some very clever small space design to create an elderly, disability and mobility friendly tiny house on wheels.
Support our show:
This tiny house has many elderly / disability friendly features which helps to make this tiny home a very liveable space. These features include design aspects such as ramps, reinforced walls for secure hand rails, and an accessibility toilet and shower. Care was taken to ensure there are zero trip hazards in the home and the dimensions of the home were even designed around the ability to use a wheelchair in the tiny house if need be.
Read More:
For those who have disabilities or mobility issues, one of the best things about a tiny house on wheels is that you can design it to your specific needs. In this case, Merle has a home where she is warm and comfortable, but most importantly, a house which has given her back her independence and dramatically increased her quality of life.
This one’s a real heart-warming tiny house story. If only we could all be as fortunate as Merle in our ‘more mature’ years. I hope you enjoy it!
This tiny house was constructed by Ferne’s company, Tiny Footprint in Australia. Check out their website here:
