Picasso and Chicago, the new exhibit at the Art Institute, celebrates the unique relationship between the most important artist of the 20th century and the city of Chicago. In 1913, The Art Institute was the first museum in the United States to exhibit the unknown artist's work thereby introducing the city and it's collectors to modern art. This exhibit features over 250 paintings, sculpture, prints, & drawings from the Art Institute's vast Picasso holdings as well as those of local collectors—the first large scale exhibit mounted by the museum in 30 years. This magnificent exhibit includes works from Picasso's Red, Blue, Cubist and Classical periods. It also tells the story of the Chicago Picasso in Daley Plaza. Near the end of his career, the great artist gave Chicago an untitled steel sculpture that has since become an indelible image of the city and has linked Chicago & Picasso together for eternity. The exhibit runs through May 12th.

EXPO – Magic of the White City (Narrated by Gene Wilder)
Narrated by Gene Wilder, EXPO – Magic of the White City brings the Chicago World’s Fair to life. Experience the world of 1893 through a cinematic visit to Chicago’s Columbian Exposition.
Subscribe for more great documentaries!
Nearly 28 million people visited the Fair. Dubbed the “White City,” it inspired future innovators like Henry Ford and Frank Lloyd Wright, unveiled the Ferris Wheel and Cracker Jack®, and, in many ways, marked the beginning of the 20th century. Many of the era’s greatest achievements in science, technology and culture were unveiled there. The grounds were designed by Frederick Law Olmsted, famous for his design of New York City’s Central Park, and constructed under the supervision of Daniel Burnham.
The Fair was an engineering marvel. On opening day, President Grover Cleveland depressed a golden telegraph key which sent the first courses of electricity throughout the Fair powering fountains, machines, electric railways and thousands of lights. It was the first use of electricity on such a massive scale.
In addition, fairgoers enjoyed the Midway Plaisance where a one-mile boulevard of fun offered camel riding and guilty pleasures such as belly dancing, street fighting and beer drinking. Against the backdrop of 1893’s troubles with workers’ rights, prejudice, discrimination and corruption, the World’s Columbian Exposition cast a brief ray of hope for the future of humanity.
Filmed in spectacular High-Definition, EXPO – Magic of the White City immerses viewers in one of the world’s biggest extravaganzas and one of the most unforgettable events in American history. There will never be another event like it… or will there?

Part 11 -- The Brainerd Community Center and the Urgency for Fund Raising.
This important video clip discusses the relationship between Illinois School District 128, the Town of Libertyville and the Brainerd Community Center, a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization. There is a sense of urgency to raise $250,000 to meet the School District deadline in December 2014. Otherwise, the buildings will be demolished to accommodate additional high school parking. More plans for fund raising opportunities are presented and a summary of community support. A fund raising event - the North Shore Beer, Wine and Cigar Festival -- is highlighted with interviews from the Reunion of Liberty High School class of '77.
Brainerd was the first high school in Lake County, Illinois built in 1916 and is located in Libertyville. Once restored it will sustain itself financially and can be a model for energy efficiency for the entire region.

Man beat down for stepping on U.S flag
We went to a Trump rally in Dallas TX to support #FreeRoss.org - trying to spread awareness of Ross Ulbrict who is serving 2 consecutive life sentences under our former overlord, Obama, for simply creating a website, learn more at FreeRoss.org
During the event, a man decided to drag out a huge American flag and step on it as a form of free speech, something Republicans seem to not actually care about, go figure.. and cops asked him to remove the flag,. After a brief tug of war battle you see them knee the one armed man in the side/stomach area... all for desecrating their sacred magic sky cloth and not complying with the holy orders from #BlueIsis gang members.
If this triggers you, tell me who the victim is, I will wait.

LAVA Broadway on My Mind walking tour #15: Angels Flight Railway & Bunker Hill evictions (July 2016)
Event link -
29:00 - Kim Cooper on Bunny Burns, Bunker Hill mystic
This free tour was hosted by Richard Schave and Kim Cooper of Esotouric with Bunker Hill native son Gordon Pattison. The locations were Angels Flight Railway (current and former location), the Kawada Hotel, former location of Clay Street, the lost Victorian neighborhood of Bunker Hill and the Angels Flight Railway station house.
Special guest Kim Cooper presents the heartbreaking story of Miss Bunny Burns, the last residential holdout on old Bunker Hill, an agoraphobic mystic who would not leave her SRO hotel room until god told her it was all right. Plus personal memories of life on Bunker Hill, John Fante's recollections of the neighborhood, jealous wives attacking strange ladies and the efforts of its foundation and friends group to restore Angels Flight Railway to daily passenger service.
ABOUT THE TOUR SERIES:
In July 2013, LAVA - The Los Angeles Visionaries Association launched a series of six monthly walking tours along Broadway meant to raise consciousness about the Broadway Theater and Commercial District, which is listed on the National Register of Historic Places, and the pending implementation of Strategy One, Phase One of the City of Los Angeles' Broadway Streetscape Master Plan. Each walking tour will follow and depart from the free LAVA Sunday Salon.
Stretching from 2nd Street to Olympic, the District contains the most intact collection of Beaux-Arts buildings in Los Angeles, and the largest collection of historic theaters anywhere in the United States.
As Broadway's vast scope and scale can be overwhelming, on each walking tour we will look closely at several different historic buildings, in order to acclimatize the observer to better understand and appreciate the whole. We will also be looking at the historic streetscape, with attention paid to street lights, sidewalks (terrazzo in particular), basement hatches, sidewalk vents, glass blocks, manhole covers, granite curbs and signage.
Motivation for this tour series:
With City Council's June 2013 approval of funding for Strategy One, Phase One of the Broadway Streetscape Master Plan, we believe that it is it is imperative to develop a greater public awareness and understanding of Broadway's architectural and scenic qualities, and to bring the informed voices of the community into discussion of the proposed changes and alterations. We believe that no element of Broadway's streetscape can be altered without causing a transformation of the whole, requiring careful consideration before any permanent or semi-permanent changes are made. Broadway's architectural character is defined not by any single feature (uniform height limits, predominance of theaters) or single landmark building (Eastern Columbia, Bradbury Building, Los Angeles Theater), but upon the concord of all of it, and the strength of the impression which all together they provide. No feature or building is of dominant importance, but each contributes, and all are vitally fused together into our National Register landmark district. Many of the salient architectural and streetscape features which will be the focus of this tour series are proposed to be impacted by the yet-unfunded Strategy One, Phase Two of the Broadway Streetscape Master Plan. The evolving situation demands public input and public awareness. We hope that you will join us on the tour series to better understand Broadway and become an advocate for its continued preservation, stewardship and vibrancy.
Obama and the Moral Arc
I'm certain that Martin Luther King did say that the moral arc of the universe is long, and it bends towards justice -- but I'm also certain that King would have credited the man who actually wrote it. That was Unitarian minister Theodore Parker, in 1853.
Does the White House ever bother to do research?
Drinking Your Way Through the Socialist World | Guests: Benjamin Powell and Robert Lawson | Ep 19
Matt Kibbe is joined by Dr. Robert Lawson and Dr. Benjamin Powell, two thirsty economists who have learned firsthand about surviving socialism in Cuba, starving socialism in Venezuela, and the collectivist black hole of North Korea. They also correct the record on Sen. Bernie Sanders’ darling Nordic countries, which turn out to be almost as capitalist as the United States.
