Our visit to the Yerevan Brandy Company made it on to the evening news in Armenia. The brandy was fantastic and the smell in the air was something else (the brandy cocktails were also VERY nice). This newsclip features Ian Gillan from Deep Purple, Tony Iommi from Black Sabbath, Geoff Downes from Asia and myself and Pat Cash - my co-Founder of Do Something.

The genocide museum and memorial is a painful reminder of the sad history of the nation that has seen the death of 1.5 million people Armenian Genocide Memorial Garden.
Over the years, from around the world, a wide range of politicians, artists, musician, athletes, and religious figures have visited the memorial.in the beginning of the 20th century. As every visitor to Armenia will realise, the last 100 years do not seem to have lessened the pain for them any less.
Turkish Speaks to Armenians
Hasan Cemal, author, journalist and columnist of the Milliyet Newspaper, and also the grandson of Cemal Pasha, one of the masterminds behind the Armenian Genocide, took part in an event entitled From Der Zor to Dzidzernagapert, which was held in Los Angeles, March 31.
Cemal described his deeply moving 2008 visit to the Armenian Genocide Monument in Yerevan, where he laid three carnations in memory of his close friend, Hrant Dink, the Armenian journalist who was assassinated in Istanbul by a Turkish extremist. While visiting Yerevan, he had a startling encounter with Armen Gevorkyan, the grandson of the man who in 1922 assassinated his grandfather, Cemal Pasha.
I am not going to enjoy an evening party here. But I say I have brought greetings to you from Anatolia. Our roots stem from the same sources. I am well aware of your pain and share it. I have come here to extend my hand to Armenian young people. However, we must not allow pain and torture to block the way to reconciliation, Hasan Cemal said.
During his speech he uttered the word genocide several times. One of the attendees asked him if he was not afraid to do so. I showed him a brochure of the conference with me pictured laying flowers at the Memorial to the Armenian Genocide in Yerevan three years before, Cemal wrote.
In September 2008, Hasan Cemal visited Tsitsernakaberd and laid flowers. On April 24, 2010, he wrote that denying the Armenian Genocide was tantamount to being an accomplice to that crime against humanity.
Cemal Pasha, one of the three masterminds behind the Armenian Genocide, was assassinated in 1922 in Tbilisi by Stepan Dzaghigian.
Yerevan Mayor Honors the Cafesjian Center for the Arts with a Certificate of Gratitude
On December 26, 2011, during a ceremony hosted by Yerevan Mayor Taron Margaryan, the Cafesjian Center for the Arts received a Certificate of Gratitude from the Yerevan Municipality. The CCA was recognized for Efficient Operations and Creative Success. The CCA's Acting Executive Director Vahagn Marabyan received the honor on behalf of the Center.
The History Museum of Armenia and the Sylva Kaputikyan House-Museum were similarly recognized.

Naregatsi Art Institute had the honor to host the legendary Deep Purple lead singer Ian Gillan, Black Sabbath guitarist Tony Iommi and Rock Aid Armenia founder Jon Dee.
Jon Dee initiated the Rock Aid Armenia charity program in 1989 to help Armenia after the Spitak earthquake.
The Naregatsi Art Institute, with the participation of the Naregatsi Orchestra /Artistic Director Artem Khachatur/ was delighted to welcome world-famous musicians who arrived in Armenia to mark the 30th anniversary of the Rock Aid Armenia charity project. Naregatsi Art Institute founder Nareg Hartounian welcomed the guests.

The Orchestra had prepared a surprise for the guests, and after Nareg Hartounian’s speech, they presented the cover of the songs Smoke on the Water and She's Gone playing them on folk instruments. The guests were extremely impressed with the musical surprise. After the Orchestra's performance, Ian Gillan and Tony Iommi expressed their admiration for the young musicians. Despite the rush of the guests, the attendees managed to take photos with their favorite musicians, capturing those memorable moments. Special thanks to Mediamax Company for oganizing the visit of the musicians and guests to Naregatsi Art Institute.

On Friday, April 15, 2011 the Cafesjian Center for the Arts (CCA) was visited by Lyndel King, Director and Chief Curator of the Frederick R. Weisman Art Museum at the University of Minnesota, and Shelly Regan, President of Yamamoto Moss Mackenzie brand agency, based in Minneapolis.
The US experts were given a full tour of the Cafesjian Center for the Arts and discussed exhibitions and programming at CCA with the Center's management and staff.
I have observed the establishment of the Cafesjian Center for the Arts at various stages, and I am glad to state that it is now a world-class museum. It is a success, stated Lyndel King. In her opinion, the exhibitions, operations and programming of the Cafesjian Center for the Arts are up to the highest international standards.
The US experts had been visiting Armenia as principal participants in the seminar on museum branding, organized by the RA Ministry of Culture, ICOM National Committee of Armenia and Association of Museum Workers and Friends. A seminar workshop for Armenian students, mastering in museum studies, was given by Shelly Regan at the Special Events Auditorium of the Cafesjian Center for the Arts on April 15. In her remarks, Shelly Regan noted the Cafesjian Center for the Arts was a model for museum branding.
