Theatre of witness Release
Directed by Declan Keeney
‘Release’, was an original Theatre of Witness production created by Teya Sepinuck with six men who were greatly impacted by the legacy of the Troubles. A former British Soldier, prison governor, detective, two prisoners and a man who was caught in a car bomb as a child share their own stories publicly. This documentary, directed by Declan Keeney further explores the idea that everyone has a past; but should they be defined by it?

Josef Locke- A Grand Adventure
The Playhouse brings the life of Josef Locke to the stage in this unique piece of Music Theatre exploring his life, music and legacy.
Born in 1917 in Derry, Josef Locke sung as a child in local churches, added two years to his age to enlist in the Irish Guards at just 16, and gatecrashed an audition at Dublin's Gaiety Theatre(wearing his RUC uniform) in the 1940's.
Known as The Singing Bobby, Locke established himself as a star of Britain and Ireland's variety halls, becoming one of the highest paid and most popular singers of the 1940's and 50's.
Josef died in 1999, prompting the New York Times to write the headline JOSEF LOCKE, 82, Irish Tenor Who Inspired Tears, Is Dead.
Esteemed singer Karl McGuckin will join local musicians for an affectionate look at Locke's life, music... and his tax affairs.
The Playhouse Wednesday 1st to Saturday 4th October 2014.
THE PLAGUE is back
Following last year’s sold-out premiere, director Neil Bartlett revives his critically-acclaimed production of The Plague for four weeks only.
The Plague is Albert Camus’ electrifying story about living through a time of crisis and fighting back against despair.
Originally written in the aftermath of the Nazis’ march across Europe, the novel struck a powerful chord with millions struggling to understand the fascist ‘plague’ that had just overwhelmed them.
Now, as Europe slides again into chaos and uncertainty, this gripping stage adaptation retells Camus’ classic for our own dangerous times.
