Excellent tour of New England
New England is a region which comprises six states of the Northeastern United States: Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, and Vermont. It is bordered by New York to the west, Long Island Sound to the south, the Atlantic Ocean and the Canadian province of New Brunswick to the east, and the Canadian province of Quebec to the north.
In one of the earliest English settlements in North America, Pilgrims from England first settled in New England in 1620, forming the Plymouth Colony. Ten years later, the Puritans settled north of Plymouth Colony in Boston, thus forming Massachusetts Bay Colony. Over the next 126 years, New England fought in four French and Indian Wars, until the British and their Iroquois Confederacy allies defeated the French and their Algonquin allies in North America.
In the late 18th century, the New England Colonies initiated the resistance to the British Parliament's efforts to impose new taxes without the consent of the colonists. The Boston Tea Party was a protest to which Great Britain responded with a series of punitive laws stripping Massachusetts of self-government, which were termed the Intolerable Acts by the colonists. The confrontation led to open warfare in 1775, the expulsion of the British authorities from New England in spring 1776, and the Declaration of Independence in July 1776.

AFS-USA Staff Memorial to Sabika Sheikh
The staff of AFS-USA gathered for a moment of silence in honor of Sabika Sheikh, a participant on the Kennedy-Lugar Youth Exchange and Study Abroad (YES Abroad) program, from Pakistan. On May 18, 2018, Sabika was one of ten people who lost their lives in a shooting at Santa Fe High School in Texas. We honor Sabika's memory and how she personified the hopes and dreams of all global citizens involved in the building of bridges between people, places, and cultures.

MONSTER Shark Caught in a RIVER
In this episode of BlacktipH, I go fishing with my buddy Ryan Nitz and our goal is to catch a monster shark in the river! I dropped a mutton snapper carcass on the BlacktipH Monster Shark Rig to the bottom of the river. While I was rigging the bait, Ryan saw a monster mark on the sonar. Within 30 seconds, we got a bite! The mystery fish swam back towards the boat before realizing that it was hooked. All of a sudden, the fish took off, and the line reel started screaming! A monster bull shark splashed near the bow of the boat. Ryan and I knew we had a serious fish on the line! I fought this monster shark on spinning gear for nearly an hour before we had a chance to catch it. Ryan and I jumped out of the boat and started pulling on the leader. From the depths emerged a real monster, a 400lb bull shark! We quickly landed, removed the hook, and released the shark back into the river.

Famed Travel TV Star Samantha Brown Reveals How to Snag Cheap Airfare
Former Travel Channel host Samantha Brown is all about finding the best travel deals.
Brown is now host of the PBS show Samantha Brown's Places to Love, premiering in January 2018.
I'm a big fan of alerts - I don't have my own crystal ball, she said. One of the best alerts I've gotten for 20 years now is Airfarewatchdog.com.
She said a part of finding a good deal is knowing the history of prices.
From now until mid-December is one of the best times to fly in terms of price - the average price of an airline ticket is about $250 anywhere in the United States - because kids are back in school, she said.
Brown also pointed to dead weeks - time periods where no one is traveling such as the days after Labor Day and Thanksgiving.

CCTV of Moscow shooting: Jilted man kills six colleagues in gun rampage
A 30-year-old Russian man has shot dead six of his colleagues at a pharmaceutical company in Moscow.
Dmitry Vinogradov was granted access to the building as he worked at the firm as a lawyer.
He changed into camouflage gear and armed himself with two semi-automatic rifles, before shooting dead four men and two women at their desks. Another woman was wounded.
Following the rampage, Vinogradov gave himself up to security guards.
It is believed the lawyer had gone on a five-day drinking binge after being jilted by an ex-girlfriend - a pharmacist at the company.
At a court hearing for the case, Vinogradov said, I didn't see another way out, and added: I want to ask for forgiveness.
The judge ruled to detain the suspect for two months and gave the prosecution two months to present their case. Report by Melissa Nathoo.

The acequia that irrigates the Los Padillos neighborhood of Albuquerque, New Mexico.
Acequias are an ancient New Mexico tradition, dating from the earliest days of the Spanish settlement of this area in 1598. Before that, the Puebloan peoples of the Southwest were irrigating fields, but without the iron and steel tools, wheeled vehicles and draft horses and oxen that enabled the Spaniards to build more extensive irrigation systems. Today these acequia systems are being attacked by moneyed interests who argue that the sandy soil through which they run lets water seep out. This keeps the water table high enough to preserve the bosque -- the hundreds of miles of magnificent cottonwood forests that follow the Rio Grande. Moneyed interests say this wastes water that could feed urban growth. I say that New Mexico's bosque is the number one thing that inspired me to move here. I don't live in the bosque. However, its existence told me that the legacy of the Spaniards, passed on from generation to generation, would ensure that this state remains the Land of Enchantment.
