Seoul National Science Museum in Seoul, South Korea
Korea's National Science Museum attracts 1.5 mil. annual visitors
과학대중화 선봉...국립중앙과학관 관람객 3천만 돌파
April is Science Month in Korea.
Although some of us might still think science is too difficult to enjoy... more and more people have been visiting Korea's National Science Museum.... raising the profile of science in the country.
Park Se-young has more.
Since relocating to Daejeon in 1990, the National Science Museum has received more than 30 million visitors.
The museum welcomes about one-and-a-half million visitors a year …and is said to have broken new ground in Korea's history of science exhibitions.
Visitors can learn about the history of science, …while taking part in a range of activities.
Aside from hands-on activities, I liked that there was a variety of displays with detailed descriptions.
The museum, open from Tuesday to Sunday and on holiday Mondays, offers free admission with the exception of some facilities.
It also provides a free English guide program once a day for foreign visitors upon reservation.
I believe we've grown to become a world-class museum. I think that we should bring about qualitative changes and provide a variety of in-depth activities in the future.
By working to increase the popularity of science, the museum hopes to serve as the central hub for hands-on exhibits and scientific research in the future.

RSM, the new Robot Science Museum in Seoul, will build itself by 2022
Turkish design bureau MAA have been selected to build the museum of robotics in the South Korean capital. Robots will (help) design the building and then assemble, weld, and polish the hyperbolic metal plates. Another team of robots will 3D print concrete for the surrounding landscape.

RSM will start its ‘first exhibition’ with ‘its own construction’ by robots on site. The aim is to support public education in robotics and increase public knowledge and interest in robots.
RSM will have a sphere-like shape to provide a wide range of possibilities for connection with urban orientation and public spaces.
