Leyden Street (1620): The Oldest Street in Plymouth, Massachusetts, USA...built by the Pilgrims
This is a clip of the oldest street in Plymouth, Massachusetts. The street was named Leyden Street in honor of the city in the Netherlands that offered refuge to the Pilgrims while they were persecuted in England. Leyden Street may be the oldest street in one of the original thirteen colonies laid out by colonists and in continuous use since 1620. The Pilgrims built their houses and fort along the street. The First Thanksgiving was likely held nearby in 1620. Plymouth Rock is near the water end of the street and is the alleged point of arrival from the Mayflower.
The clip also shows First Parish Church in Plymouth, MA. Founded by the Piligrims, it is currently a Unitarian Universalist congregation and located near the site of the first fort and cemetery on Burial Hill. It is the oldest church congregation in New England, and the oldest continuous congregation in the United States.

John Alden's Inventory
A few weeks ago, I and my classes found the list of the things that John Alden owned at the time he died in 1687. John Alden, of course, was one of the passengers on the Mayflower, and one of the Pilgrim settlers in Plimouth Colony. He gave away property to his sons and relatives all through his life, so this isn't a list of his accumulated life wealth... but this pile of goods is a rough estimate of the property of a prominent Pilgrim man at the end of the 17th century.
