Hang Gliding Cape Cod - Lighthouse to Lighthouse
Hang gliding from Cape Cod's Highland Light to Nauset Lighthouse 14 miles south in high winds.
A goal for many New England hang glider pilots is to tag the lighthouses of outer Cape Cod. This requires the pilot to launch at the state beach in Wellfleet fly north to Highland Light in Truro and then south to Nauset lighthouse in Eastham before return to the beach in front of the launch site. The flight may be done in the reverse order. Flying the outer Cape requires a strong east wind which provides a lift band where the wind hits the cliffs and sand dunes. There is less lift where there are gaps in the cliffs, such as at Newcomb Hollow, requiring the pilot to get high prior to the gap and gain momentum to get across. The winds this day were exceptionally high at about 30 mph.

Cape Cod Girls (24/317)
A new song from the Alan Lomax folk song project! Lots going on for me right now and this song didn't really come for me until I tried it today and it ended up being one of the best ones so far. I got to try a bunch of new things including reading the piano part on my guitar and sampling music from an Apple II and an Atari for the instrumental break.
The images are of lighthouses from the lower cape in Cape Cod. Credits are below!

The War of the Worlds Audiobook by H.G. Wells | Audiobook with subtitles
The War of the Worlds (Version 3) H. G. WELLS
No one would have believed, in the last years of the nineteenth century, that the Earth was being scrutinised and studied from across the gulf of space. With infinite complacency, humanity went about its little affairs, serene in its assurance of its empire over matter. It is possible that the micro-organisms we watch under a microscope, do the same. Few people gave thought to the idea of life on other planets, and none imagined that it could be so vastly superior in intellect to ourselves. No one considered the possibility of extra-terrestrial danger. Yet the eyes that regarded our planet were envious and unsympathetic, and slowly and surely drew their plans against us.
