'Chambr' is an acoustic ensemble combining violin, viola, cello, double bass, guitar and percussion led by award winning guitarist/composer Nick Tyson.

Influences from jazz, downbeat, classical chamber, folk and middle-eastern traditions are explored within Tyson's delicate writing to produce an exciting new voice for British music.

Featuring members of 'The Leisure Society', 'Eyes Shut Tight', 'Finzi Quartet, 'Gentleman's Dub Club' and 'Heritage Orchestra' to name a few - this eclectic line up is moulded by Tyson's writing to create captivating and thoughtful music.

The compositions showcase the ensemble moving seamlessly through richly textured sound-scapes, melodic string passages, intricate grooves, from stripped back minimalism to full on solos.

The project was launched in April 2012 at London's Vortex followed by a critically acclaimed UK tour.

The debut album, produced by Ben Lamdin - Nostalgia 77, will be released on F-IRE records in October 2012.

'Chamber' has received a Performing Rights Society Foundation for New Music (PRSF) 'new works' award, as well as tour funding from Arts Council England and is commissioned by the influential London based F-IRE Collective.

Sons of Kemet Beware + Inner Babylon compositions Shabaka Hutchings

Hailing from the shadowy world of the London post-jazz scene, the incandescent Sons of Kemet are saxist/clarinetist Shabaka Hutchings, tuba virtuoso Oren Marshall, and the stunning double-drums team of Tom Skinner and Seb Rochford, powering a mix of dancefloor hooks and New Orleans street music with the percussive intricacy of west African drum music, a dose of Caribbean dub, and free jazz.


Shabaka Hutchings is a British-Barbadian jazz saxophonist, clarinetist and band leader. He leads the bands Sons of Kemet and Shabaka and the Ancestors, and is one third of The Comet Is Coming.

Hutchings has played saxophone with the Sun Ra Arkestra, Floating Points, Mulatu Astatke, Polar Bear, Melt Yourself Down, Heliocentrics and Zed-U.

Career
Hutchings and many of his contemporaries shrug off the jazz label, eschewing the restriction especially as the many groups reflect influences ranging from acid house and drum & bass, to hiphop and soca, with less of a blues influence than jazz, which reviewers have noted marks a distinction between the London scene as represented by Hutchings and American jazz music.

Shabaka and the Ancestors debuted in 2016 with the album Wisdom of Elders on Gilles Peterson's Brownswood Recordings label. The Comet Is Coming, a trio with keyboardist Dan Leavers and drummer Max Hallett, received a Mercury Prize nomination for their debut album Channel The Spirits, released on The Leaf Label in April 2016. Sons of Kemet, a quartet of saxophone, tuba and two drummers, launched with the album Burn in 2013, followed up with Lest We Forget What We Came Here To Do in 2015, both on the Naim Jazz label, before moving to Impulse! for Your Queen Is a Reptile in 2018, which coincided with a breakout into wider public consciousness of the UK jazz scene, captured by the attention on the Hutchings-directed compilation We Out Here on Brownswood.

In November 2018, Hutchings curated part of the programme for the Dutch Le Guess Who? festival.

Mirrors - Vortex, London 1-03-78

These Mirrors were from Wales and released two singles on Lightning Records in 1977 and 1978. Both songs from their first single are played on this live recording at the legendary Vortex club in London at which they played with the Crabs, the Jerks and Sham 69.

VORTEX - Saudi Arabian Airlines 777-368(ER) Landing at London Heathrow - [HZ-AK19]

Saudi or legally Saudi Arabian Airlines have a grand total of 137 aircraft in their fleet with 50 on order. Saudi used to operate the likes of the MD-11, The classic 74'7's, A300's, 727's (VIP) and many more. Saudi also have a Cargo branch like Etihad Airways which operate 16 Cargo planes, most of them are 747's however 4 of them are 777F's. Most of Saudi Cargo's fleet lease their aircraft from Air Atlanta and MyCargo Airlines.

The Saudi Arabian Airlines livery is simple but extremely elegant. The stunning yet minimal detail on Saudi's 2x GE90-115B fitted onto this Boeing 777-368(ER). I was fortunate enough to be at Heathrow on a mind blowing cold morning, therefore I witnessed many planes create Vapour which sure made for an awesome spectacle. Also I had the pleasure of having a quick word with a group called The Aeroplonkers who are from Manchester.

The coldest day of the year in London. Supposedly we are getting a load of snow... doesn't look like it. There is currently a Polar Vortex effecting many parts of the Northern Hemisphere particularly swathes of North America.

Cold Vortex Warning for United Kingdom for Late February into Early March 2018

Attention Citizens of England, Attention Citizens of Scotland, Attention Citizens of Ireland, Attention Citizens of France and Attention Citizens of Netherlands.
