VIP Openhouse at the Wolfsonian, Miami Beach, Florida
The Wolfsonian is a remarkable design museum in the heart of the Art Deco District, Miami Beach. The Wolfsonian collection contains artifacts primarily of North American and European origin, dating from 1885 – 1945, which are presented in the Wolfsonian’s permanent exhibition “Art and Design in the Modern Age”. Current exhibitions are Fashioning the Modern French Interior: Pochoir Portfolios in the 1920s, Agitated Images: John Heartfield & German Photomontage, 1920-1938, and (Lo & Behold) (Mira & Ve) (site-specific artwork by Lawrence Weiner). Vernissage TV attended the “VIP Openhouse” as the Wolfsonian unveiled “Things I have learned in my life so far: Works by Stefan Sagmeister“, a site-specific installation curated by Steven Heller. During Art Basel Miami Beach the Wolfsonian also mounted a fully automated/robotic orchestration of the then-scandalous 1924 “Ballet Mécanique”, presented by Paul D. Lehrman, coordinator of music technology at Tufts University in Medford, Massachusetts and Eric Singer, director of the League of Electrical Musical Urban Robots (LEMUR) (to see our interview with Eric Singer click here). In this video there is art (Andrey Bartenev) filming art, sounds from the Ballet, photographs by Jessica Craig-Martin and balloons on the roof. Miami Beach Celebrates Micky Wolfson
Hip hip hooray! More than 1000 Wolfsonian fans cheered on collector and founder Mitchell Micky Wolfson, Jr. as he rang in his 80th year on November 14, 2019. Sponsored by the City of Miami Beach, the blowout block party under the stars honored Micky with pomp and circumstance including fanfare by the FIU Marching Band, food trucks and birthday treats, a lighting activation by Lutron, and an outdoor concert by Nu Deco Ensemble. Inside The Wolfsonian–FIU, the museum opened a brand new art and design exhibition, A Universe of Things, inspired by Micky's 7 decades of collecting. FIU President Mark B. Rosenberg, Wolfsonian director Tim Rodgers, and Miami Beach Commissioner Joy Malakoff led the crowd in trumpeting Micky's philanthropic legacy before presenting him with the ultimate birthday gift: a key to the city.

Frost Art Museum Tour, FIU - Miami , FL
An Enrollment Coordinator Tour developed by FIU Online.
In 1977, the Art Museum at FIU opened its doors and was a small gallery, no bigger than 3,000 square feet. With a desire to increase the presence of the fine arts on campus, Yann Weymouth was called on to be the Architect for the new Art Museum at FIU, whose current works include the Uris Educational Center at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York. Following the groundbreaking in 2003 for its new facilities, the Art Museum at FIU was officially renamed The Patricia & Phillip Frost Museum and is three times its original square footage with 9,000 square feet of gallery space.

My Miami with Rene Gonzalez: The Wolfsonian Museum
The Wolfsonian, one of the nation's foremost design museums, is located in a 1927 warehouse that was renovated in the early 1990s by Mark Hampton, FAIA--with help from Gonzalez himself. Gonzalez's very favorite detail? It's one--if this particular design move is successful--that visitors probably won't notice. Gonzalez is joined in his tour by a museum curator who points out objects in the collection that are likely to be of high interest to visiting architects.

Wolfsonian-FIU Museum - Cuba Historical Exhibit
Promising Paradise: Cuban Allure, American Seduction
May 06 2016 - August 21 2016
The Wolfsonian–FIU, 1001 Washington Avenue, Miami Beach, FL
Ever since Columbus first stepped foot on Cuban soil and called it the “loveliest land that human eyes have ever seen,” visitors have continued to describe and picture Cuba as a paradise. In the first half of the twentieth century, American marketers, mobsters, and developers and Cuban artists, performers, and graphic designers jointly shaped the island’s reputation as a dreamy tropical escape. Publicity campaigns and Hollywood films touted Cuba’s promises of indulgence—rum and cigars, rumba and mambo, and legalized drinking and gambling—all before travel restrictions curbed the two countries’ tourist trade.
Through photographs, posters, and promotional ephemera drawn primarily from a gift by Vicki Gold Levi, Promising Paradise: Cuban Allure, American Seduction revisits this past relationship that left lasting traces in both nations. From the Prohibition era of the 1920s through the postwar tourism boom of the 1950s, the exhibition traces how wealthy Americans and celebrities were lured to the exotic nightclubs, casinos, and cabarets of Cuba —creating a flood of tourism, a perception of glamor, and a craze for Latin music and dance in the U.S.
